I always had a strange thing with Wagner – I appreciate and deeply respect his music but I never liked it. It is not that do “not like it” but rather I just do not feel that Wagner’s things are the part of my sonic realization of world. As I wrote be...

I have to say there is hardly a production of Wagner these days that is not fucked up in some way, as if the only people who dare stage him are so narcissistic they will not let him compete with them, and need to try to handicap his power. Covent Ga...

You are living the Dream, all right! I think the only time I ever pulled this off was on a family ski trip, blasting "Ride of the Valkyries" on our way to the lifts. But that was a captive audience, and your family came to you! You must be doing s...

I need to add to what I said above that there is some exceptions
if music is chosen to be played VERY slow.
I personally very much love any slower than usually interpretations. Unfortunately

It has been said before that big speakers have big problems, and I have always found this to be the case. At the least, I think it is fair to say that no big speakers are going to "work" up to their potential without some se...

Johann, in any case I would not leave lifted. You do not want to have inside tube anything that has no referent to anything, it is like a transformer – you do not want to have in it any coils that are not connected to anything. I would say the to gro...

This is kind of strange but I am developing a habit to play my Wagner mostly on LP. You think I do it because it sounds better? Well, this is not really a reason. The true reason is that playing records I have more gain in the whole playback and cons...

This might show your average sound level at your typical listening time during a typical Wagner Opera... :)(if so, take a rest every 45 minutes for 15 minutes to avoid damaging your ears: This is an institutional recommendation here i...
