I don't think I made myself clear. The only time the table ran slow was with the thread belt. Speed is very constant with the rubber belt. If you spin the platter with no belt it continues for several minutes. The table hadn't been moved for 35 ye...

I was convinced mine wouldn't come off. It did. Inserted long screws, had one person pulling up on them while I worked three wood shims around the sides, slowing pushing it up. After 1/8" or so it popped free....
