You are the definition of the word Moron.
fiogf49gjkf0d
For the person who very easy toss comments like “utter nonsense”, BS and “does not make sense” you are very uninformed. If you stop position yourself as an ignorant teenager who “knows everything” then you have chance to learn something. The Car Talk guy said once that when he was 17 he was surprised how much his father was fool about cars? Then, what he was 20 he was surprised how much his father have learned during those last 3 years. So far you sound with minimalism and ignorance of 14 years old.

 ShuffleSk8Ter wrote:
This is utter nonsense for the very simple fact that horns and it inherent coloration/distortion of adding a horn to the driver (amplifying device) cancels out any positive effects of higher efficiency etc..
What horns inherent coloration/distortion?  Can you name them, explain the nature, distinct between colorations and distortion and compare the horns inherent distortions to the distortion of let say direct radiators?

 ShuffleSk8Ter wrote:
further more most if not all horn loaded compression drivers have a metal cone/diaphragm these devices have THERE OWN distortion and ringing!...
This is not accurate.  Most useable compression drivers if they have metal diaphragm then they soft suspended.  The measurable distortions of any compression drivers are order of magnetite less than any direct radiator. Did you measure the distortions yourself of you run your mouth because it is free?

 ShuffleSk8Ter wrote:
…these devices have THERE OWN distortion and ringing…this is why you see so many people put foam or and acoustic absorbing devise in the mouth of the horn.....
Really? Where this comes from? I have been doing horn for years and I never saw it. You admit that you are clueless about horns and you report “many people”. Predictable, does’t it?

 ShuffleSk8Ter wrote:
…again total BS! this is what everyone continues to say of there advantage of high efficiency horn speaker I know from personal experience I have built many many low power 1.5watt-3watt single ended amplifiers there is no real advantage actually tube amps have less advantage they have a bandwidth limiting device in them there output transformer
Of cause it has nothing to do with low power amplifier as “rowuk” suggested but rather an ability of compression drivers to react to lower minimal currents. Let leave whatever you have built alone as it is irrelevant as you have neither knowledge not ways to use 1.5watt-3watt single ended amplifiers. My question is why you blame low power SETs being bandwidth limiting device if the horns that new use are bandwidth limiting devices. We have limited bandwidth horn and we use with them bandwidth limiting amplification. Again, why the bandwidth limiting is the problem if it is the basic postulate of our operation.  In music we do not have bandwidth limiting string, brass or wind instrument and this is perfectly fine. In audio people want to put one ass on all chairs. Good luck with that!

 ShuffleSk8Ter wrote:
…soundstage 3d etc etc..is all BS audiophool crap that does not relate to real music sir!
. Yes and no. The soundstage that you understand of cause is BS but it might not be is the… listening IQ is slightly higher then yours.

 ShuffleSk8Ter wrote:
…again all utter BS... when was the last time you were in a concert hall? EVERYTHING IS REFLECTED SOUND SIR if you like that forced in your face presentation fine but don't tell me this is what you hear live!!
Well I disagree with rowuk that lower radiation angle decouple horns from room better but your argument is bogus. Live sound and sound reproduction have different languages and different expressive methods. The best concert hall is not the acoustic environment that you are wiling to have in your best listening room. It is too early for you to understand however.

 ShuffleSk8Ter wrote:
…I don't think you understand what your hearing...your hearing the added coloration/distortion ...along with the signal and thinking that your beloved horns are the most reveling speakers
I do not think you understood what rowuk said to you. What he said was in fact very accurate and intelligent. Read it another few time and you might get it.

 ShuffleSk8Ter wrote:
…the moral of this little rebuttle is horn speakers are far to messed up to be able to bring the live musical event home...
Sure, no one argue with your vision. Why you so much worry about it? Are you in retail sail and some kind of Horn Company denied you a dealership? Hours are crap and you are genius. Can you go away and die with your little pathetic secret?

Moron is too nice. Moron is actually a very nice te
fiogf49gjkf0d
Lawrence,
Here is the Webster Online Dictionary (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/moron) definition of the word Moron:

Definition of MORON

1usually offensive : a person affected with mild mental retardation
2: a very stupid person

In this threads case, moron is actually a very safe place for you to be. The truly retarded can't know better and get sympathy. It becomes offensive when the "target" has the ability to know better but actively maintains ignorant behavior.
I know that school is out and you don't have enough to do.  In a couple of months you will be perhaps in the 9th grade, maybe get a physics class and learn a little bit about what we talk about here. Most of us are really trying things out - generally with a fair amount of success. We document what works and discuss what does and what does not. You obviously have zero practical or technical knowledge of music, audio or life in general. I have no interest in trying to educate some "know it all" punk and will not respond to any more nonsense. Romy replied to your ignorance very eloquently but none of us expected you to understand it.
Perhaps looking up the term "rebuttal" could be useful. Here Merrian Webster again:

re·but·tal

 noun \ri-ˈbə-təl\
: the act of rebutting especially in a legal suit; also : argument or proof that rebuts

There are many dictionaries and online resources that discuss how to "argue" or refute in an intelligent manner. Did you notice the word "PROOF". There are hundreds of REASONS that a particular architecture could not appeal to someone. Intelligence starts when a logical approach is developed to quantify those reasons. Simply calling something BS without proof is not a "rebuttal". I can offer the math and proper documentation for any of the points that I mentioned - not that proof would have any space between your ears. The only BS in this thread has been your presence. Welcome to my PTI (People To Ignore or in your case -Punks To Ignore) list. I suggest looking for a real blog space where no one has a clue. Maybe there you will appear "intelligent" or more easily become a "valued" member. I spend the little time that I have with people that can offer something.

Maybe when you grow up we will have something to talk about. I won't be actively waiting for that day. Goodbye.

Thanks that this “debate” is over.

Rowuk, I disagree with dictionary explanation of word Moron:

http://www.goodsoundclub.com/Forums/ShowPost.aspx?PageIndex=1&postID=460#460

Still, in the example of the individual above I do agree that some people running within a stadium circle can be so much behind a main group or runners that they might begin to feel that they are ahead.

I have got rid of that idiot. It is not that the audio query that he posted was unreasonable but he as a personality unfortunately had obvious “confusion” that made interaction with him wasteful. Interesting that a few weeks back I begin to write an essay on the subject of “Why Macondo- like horns”. In the essay I did not advocate the idea horns but rather the idea of multi-channeling contradicting what I do to the efforts of the people who use wider channels. I abandon to write that essay as there were many other thing on my plate than.  The interest to the subject still is there. I kind of was glad when the character above begins to question something but very fast it become apparent that it will be another internet idiot.  This “Lawrence” is from Illinois but he used server in Hessen Germany to post. Well, whatever motivations did drive him …I am glad that I will not be learning those motivations more.

Music lovers have lives too
fiogf49gjkf0d
I will always have trouble with the notion that persons who can neither spell, nor employ grammar to kindergarten level, could possess sufficient "music IQ" to tell us all how wrong we are - a group of persons apparently highly-educated, well-traveled, learned in many things and widely experienced in the finer things that life has to offer - en masse, even without submitting his own audio solution to the vast deficiencies that we not only possess, but nurture. That such a group should be so delusional is one thing, but that we should be aggressively accused of being so by another, and moreover another who offers no solution to our pressing dilemma, seems to me a little strange. I also consider it strange that such a vulgar person, devoid of all manners or etiquette, could be the familiar of all those preeminent classical musicians, unless perhaps he's the guy who sweeps up the dressing rooms after the performance. If tooling around this site has made me aware of one thing, it is that persons possessed of genuine "music IQ" tend to be so as part of a greater appreciation for all life's finer things, and are not sitting in dingy basements enjoying frottage with our record collections.

So, he did.
fiogf49gjkf0d
I do not think that spell, grammar or anything else for that matter is important. I also do not feel that "music IQ" is necessary connected to appreciation of other finer things. This is what we all love to feel, when we consider ourselves to be “special”, but unfortunately if we look into the subject more honest then it is not the case. We love to attribute to the individuals who evolved in classical music listening some kind of special ethical attribute, as classical music is kind of “guaranty”, it might be the case and it very much might not be true. One of the greatest opera connoisseurs that I know, the person with truly encyclopedia knowledge and phenomenal taste is in fact a criminal theft. Not the person who still from IRS but the guy who robs properties of helpless older people. I kid you not. I can give you a lot of stories of very series classical music collectors who acted as the most despicable douchebags. So, I would love to feel that that if person has rash from Chopin then he would not still your credit cared but it is not how it works. Do I need to mention how many high flying esthetes were working in those concentration camps?

Anyhow, this Lawrence guy is obviously not in this scale. He just a bit disturb individual, which is not a big deal itself but the problem is that his disturbance eradicates in him the capacity to engage complex subject, of even to understand the basics complex subjects. There is not need to blame him in this; he was a victim of whatever he was.  Obviously when he was portioning himself as some kind of final instance authority it was not good but it very fast moved from being ridicule to being comical. As the quote from one of my favorite movie say “Sweet heart, you can die with your pathetic little secret…”  So, he did….
