I was simulating the Fane S 8M in hornresp, your favourite program, and then I tried B&C 8PE21 and it was almost identical. Then I tried to simulate the 18Sound 8M400F and it went lower than both of them. Listening tests on youtube comparing the ...

It is a shame that I keep finding threads about a 300Hz compression driver channel, that ends abruptly. I have been trying with a not-so-exact Goto S-150 replica (~1.7m deep, 75cm diameter mouth), and I know of another fellow in Sweden who tried the ...

Tonight I finished two horns at once. One was a shortened Goto S-150 horn that now has a Fane S 8M, without back chamber so far. Dimensions are now 1.1m deep, 11cm throat, 75cm mouth. It is replacing the Avantgarde Trio midbass horn r...

I take it back, 100Hz is pushing it regarding horns and compression drivers I know of. I can't imagine a compression driver reaching the midbass muscle of the Fane S 8M. And I don't see why one should try, when the Fane reaches 120Hz so effortlessly....

Turns out we were in agreement in 2009: http://www.romyhome.com/Forums/ShowPost.aspx?PageIndex=2&postID=11289#11289Have you changed your mind about such a horn that you propose, or do you have any more hints before I build it? Here is a nice exam...

You said are lucky to get hornloading down to 150Hz. Then I guess you suggest you will end up at maybe 175Hz. Hornloading a compression driver down to 175Hz is not too difficult and the horn will not be larger than the Avantgarde Trio midbass horn, a...

Crossing the woofer so high is not really a fair comparison. The compression drivers needed to be in a bigger horn, and possibly be replaced with a driver that does 100Hz for certain. ...

Maybe the upper midrange horn became like a paper cone speaker. Best sound I ever made, and it looks like this. It had the same ring to it as the magical SABA fullrange speakers - made of paper. But below 500Hz, I must use solid wood. The Fanes are t...

Hi,I am slowly building my own Macondo. I understand why the injection channel is there. It brings some kind of softness that the compression drivers lack. I am using a 12" JBL midbass driver (~100dB sensitivity) in a 50L single driver Marshall cabin...
