Good link, Kris. What is missing in the link is the RL filters. The RC Low-pass filters are fine as the capacitors are not in the band-pass mode. It is arguable what would be better – a subtractive shunting cap or a few miles of coil in the signal p...

Paul, I do not think that “before or after RIAA losses” requirement has any merit as no matter what kind type RIAA filter is being used it always will lose around 20dB. I do not think also that there is a “safest path” or “reasonably affordable”....

The idea of a driver/speaker that "sorts out" noise and "puts it in its place" is very interesting! But perhaps we are thinking wrongly about how this might be done? As far as doing it earlier in the "reproduction" chain, I do know a version of thi...

If to look at the Melquiades schematic in the channel “A” you will see 78H first order low pass filter.

The low-pass filter in Milq and the low-pass filters generally is great...

I thought that a digital crossover had a negative impact on sound quality -- especially for use between a midbass, midrange and tweeter channels. So I made an experiment a what I learned was not expected.I used my mid horn and two high pass filters i...
if you could understand the basics about how audio waves especially bass range acts in closed space you wouldnt even bring the name Bass EQit just cures the sound pressure in a single spot(listener) and possibly can not do anythi...
... VERY SHARP resonance I want to damp
Paul, this sharp resonance peak is indication of time domain problem (it could be seen on a CSD plot), and it cannot be damped just by using electrical circuits with the driver, beca...

Ok, can somebody to elaborate on the judgment which filter is better in case it is a corrector that acts in the middle of auditable range, let say from 1000Hz? It is the same filter but let look at the theory of judgments.
The ribbon is 100% tonally … If you use this tweeter lower than 10kHz your system will be totally unlistenable because you cannot reproduce the proper tone of harmonics.
It is pretty much what I found as well during m...

Jessie,
Actually the tendency of manufactures to isolate ground becomes almost common among any more or less serious manufactures nowadays. The main’s ground is so polluted in US hat it is scare… or even dungarees. I remember a few years ago when I...

Hello Romy,I didn't use John Hasquin's tapped horn design, I modeled my own in hornresp for my TAD woofer. I knew I would only need it up to ~55Hz so I was happy to have it flat from 23Hz-70Hz. The lowest crossover point for Behringer DCX 2496 is 20H...

Thanks for responding. You mention a rotary phase knob. Is this ULF system connected through a digital processor? If yes, will you expand on DSP effects on sound and system integration with the DSP? Many "pros" use these filters to "handle" speak...
The crossovers were fourth order, which is what I use on my horns. Second order, I have found, can give a better blending, but reduced the delicacy and transparency in my system. But it's very complicated, and further exacerb...

And don't underestimate the Antimode with its parametric filters. There was a discussion with audio professionals about this topic on diyaudio.com.When the filter Q is matching the Q of the room mode one also has a correction in time domain....

I have listened to six different AC filters recently in two different audio systems , four of six ac filters were awful but two of them (lessloss and Ayre) were better:- Ayre L5XE - Lessloss x640I do not judge these two AC filters because I did not p...

Hello Romy,I am no power expert but here are my observations on your situation.Even though a PS Audio and others create a perfect AC sine wave this does not seem to be the answer, even for low draw front end components. It seems that some type of&nbs...

Doing some further thinking by my mind that has “little understanding about the technology” I would like to share another concern that for my little mind does make since.
According to Mr. Donahue comments above playing the BSO files with a pos...

Romy,I know you know there is no such thing as perfection. My favorite quote is from S. Dali who warned, "never fear perfection, you won't achieve it". But in that statement are, at least, two messages.Nothing wrong in striving for perfection. Being...

I am not completely thrilled with TwoGoodEars new crossover.

Mumford,
Let clear first with terminology. You post said about “Incorporating active crossovers into DSET” and I think it is not what you are interested; at least it is not what I am practicing. An active crossover implies a use a dedicated active s...

I hate when those industry people steps out really and from facts just to maintain the faces. What would be next: they would record at +5dB digital and suggest that this type of sound cure listeners shin cancer?
Yes, Paul Stubblebine is correc...

What picked my curiosity and what I found very interesting is to learn if the Running Springs Audio (RSA) flaks own any truly dymick/harmonics not screwing filtration know-how. If it so then it would be VERY interesting to merge with APS does wit...
