Romy Hi, I completely understand your feelings towards the Hi-Fi trade and reviewers , I now ( since I started to represent cessaro ) grasp how the system works and it is often not a particulary noble or honest world , all I want is a dec...
Just been comparing the Stahl to the MSB Platinum III with signature and filter upgrades , I would post my thoughts but you would only decry it as another product announcement....
Romy have you given much thought to the fact that over the last year or so, this forum has become more about you ,than music reproduction, re the dac ,surely you must know when something is better, do I have to wrap it up in flowery language? ...
Romy Hi, I just mean that instruments sound more real, through the Stahl-tek whether is is the decay of a high hat or the weight of a piano, 'presence' is the same I guess when the instrment just sounds more real, re the selling part I have been look...
Romy, just reporting my thoughts on some dacs, The stahl-tek is the 'best' one I have heard so far , of course i haven't yet heard the new or old Pacific Microsonics yet, regards Keith....
Romy if you have the oppurtunity , try to hear the new dac by Mike Stahl, the Stahl-Tek 'Vekian' in my system it has greater resolution, weight and presence than the Lavry and MSB platinum which were my favourite dacs until now, regards Keith....
Angelo, Romy has asked you not to post on thi forum, please desist....
Romy does the forum have a PM facility?...
Romy Hi, I didn't particularly set out to 'demean' Avantgarde, they have a good business model, I don't believe it is a secret that they modify conventional drivers, I simply mean that the constituent parts of a Cessaro horn , add up to a far hi...
Mike Hi, prices and value well the new Gamut speaker was next door to us in Munich, Euros 95K it was unbelievably poor , Avantgarde charge how much for their large Trios yet the modified conventional drivers they use cost only a few bucks each, as to...
Pete, I met Kevin and his wife for the very first time at Munich, what a charmimg couple, personally I am very much looking forward to hearing his new horns, any commercial manufacturer making horn loudspeakers has to be a good thing. ...
Oliver , this probably isn't the correct forum for this discussion, but there were more compromises invloved last year, the choice of pre/power amps wasn't made by us, the Allnics this year were superb. Rooms at shows &n...
Cessaro will be playing the Beta's at the Milan show in Septemeber and the full Gamma system at next years Munich show, the room this year was ok, there was a bass resonance in the room that forced us to keep the volume relatively low , you should ha...
I didn't realise you had heard a pair Romy, or do you just 'know' what they sound like?...
Are you sure you posted at the correct site?.....
Ol ,were you the guy wearing the roller skates?...
You discerned a great deal in 2 secondsl Try harder and you may reach Romy's level of discernemnt where you no longer even have to hear the product to know what it sounds like, OL which speakers do you use? This Hi-End you must stay a little longer a...
Cessaro won't be in Canada will they, Romy how do you imagine they sound?...
I borrowed a dcs 'Scarlatti' for the weekend and compared it to a Lavry 924 and the MSB Platinum, the DCS had the highest resolution of all three, not by a huge amount mind , particularly nice treble I thought, this was just solely with CD....
Ralph and Thomas are friends there would have been no price premium for the field coil option, they would have listened to both versions of the driver and made a decision on sound alone, I take your point though of an old technology resur...
Romy , I don't doubt any marketing opurtunity will be seized upon, have you experimented with field coils ? I have't heard the driver in the Beta, I am told that there isn't a great deal of difference sonically between the fiel...
I have re-read your post and your tone sugests that field coil drivers wi be used by manufacturers purely for their marketing appeal and not for any sonic improvement, Thomas Woschnick has just taken delivery of a pair of Cessaro Beta's which u...
Are you decrying the use of field coils per se? A friend has been experimenting with them in a specific utilisation and has had very promising results....
Paul which direct drives have ou tried?...
Romy Hi sorry to have wandered off topic, I am listening at the moment to an MSB Platinum Dac III, hoiping to get the lavry back for comparison, I believe the MSB is multi bit based on a ladder resistor , with 4 24 bit DAc modules, tremendous re...
Romy Hi you also say that objectively the lavry is better, but subjectivel.... what do you mean? Has the Lavry greater resolution is it more dynamic is the timbre/tone more beautiful/real? Thanks keith. ...
Romy Hi what did youd with the lavry to change it's sound in your system? Keith....
Hi Oliver,Thie single slit model is definitely not the correct model to be judging these effects. Even the other model baffled piston is iffy.Rgds, Collin...
The speed of the soundwave coming towards you will not change even if the lower frequencies are more omnidirectional so there will be no shift.
The SPL of these different frequencies will change though depending on distance because of this effect.

Hello el`OlCan you better describe "the center of the wavefront is moving backwards" ? You mean the sound wraps around the speaker differently dependent on the wavelength compared to the baffle ratio i think ?This is also true for horns (not only for...
