Book of cigars

which of the Playboy cigar books do you refer to? It would seem that there are two.
I refer to "Playboy: The Book of Cigars" from 2010. Aaron Sigmond and I worked for a number of years on this project, with my doing a good bit of ghostwriting. A lot of this came out of the many articles I wrote for Smoke! magazine. I wrote Part 3 of the book entirely. It is a nice chapter on pairing Cigars with libations. I did get a mention in the foreword at least...

Cigars and divinity

Thanks Adrian. Ghostwriting is indeed a miserable pursuit; all the effort, little of the credit and less still of the money. I've done several movie treatments, which are actually harder work than the dialogue, but when the treatment is done a "big name" screenwriter can be brought on board for less money and quickly breeze through what remains of the work. Not that I would really want to put my name to any of the things that I've done for the screen anyway; there are so many competing egos at play that by the time anything is actually done, every ounce of life has been squeezed out of it. Anyway, I shall read your chapter; I've written quite widely on food/wine pairing as well as one article on finding unconventional matches for cigars, such as aged Calvados, high-quality, aged rum, small-batch Bourbon & rye and all those peculiar liqueurs that one finds all over Europe - it can be quite an interesting subject upon which to exercise oneself. I don't drink much these days, but I do find that a Crown Royal 12y.o. Manhattan goes down beautifully with an Esplendido...

Paul, I like that Davidoff quote; nothing could be more apropos, could it? Without the right circumstances, a fine cigar is little better than a giant cigarette, whilst given the right circumstances, the experience knocks on the door of transcendence.

Music & liqueurs

Adrian, one might go further with your music/liqueur/country notion; after all, what could be more archetypally Russian than to swallow a bottle of Stoli or two, followed by the vague contemplation of suicide to Tchaikovsky's No.6 "Pathetique"? For that matter, that somewhat bizarre absinthe mindset is wonderfully synonymous with Debussy, and Elgar harmonizes very nicely indeed with Tanqueray & tonic and the wearing of tweed sports coats:-)

Romy a few years back…

Amy and I got today email from a local audio guy with the subject “Romy, a couple years back”. It had just one image attached.

Synergy...

Funny. I was thinking how lucky you were when she got you that superb Bruckner boxed set; I myself have long theorized that I will have found the perfect woman when she loves Chopin, Lizst, Baudelaire and Burgundy as much as I do - a love of cigars and pipe tobacco is surely too much to be hoped for:-)

Awesome relationship with music
fiogf49gjkf0d
I guess it never occurred to me how special it is to have a stable relationship with a woman with whom you can sit down, discuss yesterday's symphony over a bottle of Bordeaux, and then she tolerates you smoking your pipe by the fire as you read a good book.

But what is that weird disc in the picture? It looks like one of those old fashioned CD's but it is way too huge?

This is why the vast majority have to compromise and lower their sights for something slightly less rare, such as a rich blonde mute.
