I have to disagree with you here. Until you've heard the bass from a JBL Hartsfield, you haven't heard bass. Best bass I've heard period. I'm curious if the Vitavox is of the same caliber. ...
|
Romy,When you say that the Vitavox 15" was the best midbass you heard, was it in a Vitavox corner horn? I'm think about acquiring or building a pair of Vitavox corner horns as I have a perfect room for them. ...

my 6 year old has been my main listening partner since birth. One of my proudest moments as a father is when I put on tchaikovsky's 5th symphony and she said at 4 years old: "it's the Nutcracker guy." She could discern that the same composer created ...

Looks good Romy....Will the injection channel make a return?...

agreed with your comments about the show. I go mainly for the record shopping as the local record stores bring out their better records. I picked up several excellent box sets, including Webern and Bruckner coral music. I also went to see the Airforc...

Yes Rommy I agree with most of your comments above. What I found interesting in the larger installation was the time alignment and the bass implementation. I do disagree with your statement of not stopping by to see the Hornfabrik demo room, as I bel...

Rommy,Have you seen these speakers yet? Hornfabrik out of Germany. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DL6O8wa4OeIThey seem to be doing several things right with the larger installation....

My favorite were the Classic Audio speakers. I know they have many faults, but the Fostex 500II tweeter was singing nicely. ...

In Romy's neck of the woods this week. Can anyone point me to any record stores for classical and jazz. Specifically looking for vinyl.
Thanks,

Cars are a poor analogy as they are a virtual necessity in everyday life. Music systems are the definition of nonessential expenditures, people must see listening to music as essential to their happiness and well being to begin to purchase again. Tha...

Another hobby that I'm involved with is saltwater aquariums. People used to enter the hobby as children when they would get their first 10 gallon aquarium as gift or hand me down. Now kids would rather play video games then actually mess with a hobby...

Very sorry to hear of your loss. I love showing people the pictures of your playback system with the pictures of your cat.......
|
You have probably seen this system on the net:The system is obviously not optimized but it is a very cool looking system none the less. I also like the visual appearance of your multicells on the Altecs. My listening position is 16 feet from the horn...
|
Roomy,I have read the posts from two years ago on your multi-cell horns. What was the final verdict? I don't see them for sale so I assume you've kept them. I'm curious where you stand on using 18 cell horns as the main midrange source....
|
Thank you for your insight Romy. What I found interesting was Stevenson's theory that tracking the inner most grooves of the record was critical for classical music as the most demanding passages (finales) are at the end of the record....

This is a perfect example of an Internet Troll and time was wasted and brain cells were lost humoring him. Joined a few days ago to crap on the site and then move on. BTW, love the quote Stitch/Syntax. Thank you. ...
|
Romy,Could you tell me what is the preferred alignment method (tool and geometry) of your tonearms is? I personally have always used Baerwald but I have been reading lately that Stevenson would work better for classical music....

I never understood the affinity that the Germans have for heavy metal. Whenever you going into any of their rooms at CES (especially MBL), Slayer is playing at 130 DB. Maybe it's the modern interpretation of Wagner....

Romy,They had two rooms. The large room with the speakers posted above used the repo WE drivers by GIP. The other room had the vintage WE monitors that want down to 50 hz.BTW, the Silbatone brochure had both Silbatone and GIP products in it. There is...

"whatever that means" is that most rooms at a trade show are not good. You know this Rommy, I've seen you write it in past posts. I like that Silbatone was trying to demonstrate to the "Wilson Audio" crowd that vintage horns can surpass the latest mu...

Romy,I heard these speakers and I thought they sounded excellent compared to most of the crap at the show. Even better were are pair of original Western Electric 757A two way monitors that were running in the other room. No bass below 50-60HZ, but vo...
