Are there any current sources for large horns available in the USA or that can ship here, I have always done Array speakers and I want to jump into the horns arena but finding large diameter horns is a challenge....

Sucks! I made today my conical prototype and loaded it with S2 band-crossed at 500Hz and 900Hz. Pretty much wherever I placed this horn except directly above the tweeters it screwed imaging. To mount it directly above the tweeters does not look...

Since I finalized how my midbass horn handles decay the only things left in my playback is to set the right level and cut off point of my ULF channel. Formerly I did set it up for 35Hz, second order and it was fine as a temporary setting. However in ...

Jean-Michel Le Cléac'h is RIP and it is not a good idea to
talk bad about dead people. However, it is not a personal commentary against
Jean-Michel but rather my attempt to point out a huge harm that he did with his
idea of what I call La-horns or...

Thanks but where do I source Horns these big I cant find any manufacturer or store where I can buy neither La-horns or Tratrix of large diameter?...
I wonder if an exponential horn would raise the bottom slightly?
Yes, a move from tratrix (or La profile) to exponential profile will yield some raise the bottom, however it come with prolonging of the horn and in some case...
First, Romy describes his horns as spherical. Later he names them tractrix. Are some of the profiles of the spherical wave profile?
Yes, they are spherical, wish means not rectangular. ...
As for balancing the amplitude between channels by driving them from different taps: I drive the upper bass horns form the 16 Ohm taps, and everything else from the 8 Ohm taps. An 8 Ohm versoin of the upper-bass driver...

I was cooking a dinner today for my kids and they asked me if
any taste difference between ice-tea in Donkin and Starbucks. In my head popup
an association with this thread. The
same with the horns. I do not know the difference, but it certai...

Hello Romy, hi all

Hey Romy I read your requirements of a mid bass horn. I am using jabo tratrix KH-55A(320hz) with altec 288 and I want the mid bass to go under that. I would use a trattix round midbass if it was possible. But it's just not with in my abilitys to buil...

There were plenty it of them made: Techniques 9500, Excusive 2301, Iwatas, JBL 2350 and JBL 2345, Vitavox (narrow) and few others … They kind of very strange horns and I always was suspicions about them. Though my suspicions are purely theoretical: a...

and not very encouraging. The set up was as follows: a Lowther ex4 playing from ~12k down in a big ~100Hz tratrix. A Murata up on top, and a 15" Beyma on the bottom. The Beyma is in an Onken so the results may not be fully indicative of performance i...
Make an experiment, and I will simplify the case quite assertively. Take a typical compression driver, cross it at 800Hz, second order and load it into a proper contemporary horn (Tratrix or JMLC) of 300Hz. Listen that hor...

The “best midrange comes from compression drivers”. I see somebody like Haralanov would be very much opposed to this comment. The irony is that I would be opposed as well to this comment. I would say that the best midrange at over 107dB sensitiv...

Dominik, I did not check the geometry of the horn, I am sure you did it correct. At the first approximation it looks like right numbers. Here are a few comments. 1) Please next time name the images to upload to my gallery more identifiable. The nam...

Logic, the conversation of JMLC profile vs. tractrix is not a subject of debate of any kind. This is well addressed subject and if you look at my forum then you will find all necessary information. Look for words La-Horn as this is how I call JMLC pr...

I am not a huge fun of S3 for MF use as the ceramic magnet is less interesting then alnico magnet for HF applications. For the low mid, or as I call it the Fundamental Channels the HF problem that ceramic has do not manifest themselves. My Fundamenta...

Well, this is what I call “beautiful but” category. Unquestionably
it is very creative, firm, light and very attractive, and it is wonderful to solicit
appreciation of simpletons-morons who did so in the comments. There is no need to talk about so...

Speaking about the interesting surface finish. I have seen a
new stimulating idea that I call the Scratched Horn. I do not know how much
practical effect if has but it shall not be bad. Let pretend that it is not a conical
horn with even sides but...

Eric, if you are
considering building a speaker of Macondo topology then you might reexamine “using
horns like these”. The subject of La-horns vs Tratrix in Macondo topology is well
discussed at this site, you might give to it some consi...

I did a lot of those experiments a few years back, stuffing the back chamber of S2 driver with all imaginable things. During that time I did not use a dedicated lower MF channels and was concerned only about the S2 top end. I did not detect any diffe...

Paul, what are you talking about? I use from my 6C33C no more then 1-2W. The 6C33C at LF might give 20 W but it is load over to 600R. I load it to near 2500R (11.83:1 transformer with 15R driver) – you figure out your how much power and gain I b...
