Today WGHB broadcasted live Marc-Andre Hamelin’s recital with Berg’s Op 1, Liszt’s Sonata in B minor , Debussy’s Excerpts from Préludes and some own Hamelin’s Etudes – a killing program but as insult of injury I detect that the sound was very intere...

The only valuable foe myself history lesson I took after Jonathan Weiss visit was Jonathan’s quote. It was where we were sitting in his listening rooms and I was making one of few very fruitless attempts to explain to h...

The Rockports have a very light platter and a carbon Arm....the one I listened to was the latest, it had simply no Bass reproduction, nada, nothing and the Arm resonances are also inferior to any energy transfer from any cartridge. The lead wires are...

The Rockport Sirius 3 platter is around 30 Kg which suggests to me that you haven't seen, used or heard one. From your description, whatever it was that you did hear bears no resemblance to how it sounds. I can only assume that whatever it was, it wa...

They weren't 'selling' anything. You could ask about the Japanese GIP reproduction drivers or pick up a leaflet but no one actually mentioned them. The owner of Silbatone has another business making & selling cars. I don't think he's under any pr...

I was wondering how different would be my audio habits if I “discover” the FM in Boston earlier. I lived in Boston for a few years and did not acknowledge the highly available wonderful word of FM broadcast. I think that if I “FM-wake up” early in th...

Well, there are different Models from Rockport out there .... and I also listened to the latest version Sirius III. Based on the technical specs (heavy 30 kg platter, air bearing horizontal, vertical) I thought it must be super sonically. But when I ...

The demonstration of the WE equipment was impressive as was looking closely at how these horns were constructed. The arrangement (originally it would have been mono) was to provide the audience seated both in the stalls or circle with an evenly bala...

Yep, another TT but what does it mean “Analog is Back” and “new hope for the discriminated analog Audiophile”? This language is a crap that industry and armature cheerleaders develop to pump themselves and others up. How...

...deletd.The Mahler Second last Saturday was a wonderful concert to demonstrate how irrelevant BSO is becoming in lives of people who are interesting in actual musical results instead of paranoiac desire of feeding a parochial cesspool of smalltalk ...

Well, the Ultimate Turntable. I had the chance to listen to some personally. Most have one in common:Overrated and hyped from deaf "reviewers"And .... price tag has no direct comparison to sonic excellence ... or a lot of technical features which are...

This is beyond wonderful. Two festivals are running now in Boston:
Rockport Chamber Music Festival: http://www.rcmf.org/
Boston Early Music Festival: http://www.bemf.org/
WGBH is running live and live-to-tape broadcasts from both of them...

.... the usual marketing blubber. The more expensive a High end Product is, the more superlatives you need to make it superior to anything else. You want the big bucks? You need a big mouth first.but we all know how this business runs. What amazes me...

[quote user="jam"]I would agree that the RX-5000 has some advantage to the SX-8000 and I put the differences down to mainly the air bearing and construction of the platter which will cause softness and a lack of focus (some people may like this). T...

Mani, Pacific is freaky and it detects HDCD code only at the resolution that it was encoded. If it was coded at 16 bit then it will not read the HDCD at 20 Bit. There is an option in there that set the HDCD detection death… I did not play a lot ...

on what? What does other Tables better? Which ones?I listened to a lot of Turntables and there were
the very most expensive ones.......
