To Antonio, it is not necessary to “to find some mat with those characteristics of yours”. The characteristics of mat would be applicable only I context of the TT you use (platter, suspension and so on). With my Micro 8000 that has very dead soundi...
Dear Romy, thanks for your comment. I actually don't want the mat to do "something" for me sonically, but to teach me how far I'm I of my ideal. Knowing your goals and taking for granted that the 8000's platter must be rather...
I do not think that anyone would be able to “teach” and I do not thin that there is nothing to teach about the mats. A good “sounding” platter does not require any “actions” from mat and the hard rubber mats do exactly...
Which one? Where can I find it? how much is it? What's it made of? I've tried a few mats and I always found in all of them some added "colorature". I've not tried any of the "audiophile approved" ones since I didn't expect a...

I have to agree with Wellington. To be fair we both use stainless steel platters (heavier than stock) and use CU-180 mats to damp the platter which ensures an almost dead platter, way better than any acrylic, hard rubber and felt mat I have tried. St...

My first post here, although I have read some of the discussions on this site over the years. I wanted to share my experience with my Micro Seiki RX-5000 and resonance control of its heavy platter. I have seen posts here befo...
… they have 2 weak features - a Platter which rings- no suspension
No arguments here BUT how the Platter Ringing and No Suspension impacts sound? I mean we can take a hummer, smack the platter and observe ringing. However...

The Ultimate turntable only needs to provide for one arm. The ultimate arm. Why compromise its performance with various inferior arm designs. I'm not sure that high mass is necessarily a good thing.  Yes it stores a large amount of kinetic ener...
I'm not convinced a constant side load on bearing is good.  It causes assymetrical wear.  Just seems to me a center balanced bearing with no lateral loads would be better.  Merely an intuitive hunch.
Ye...
Perhaps the best test is to play well-recorded piano which runs up and down the scales. Notes exciting resonances may sound slightly louder, with more smearing and sustain. When resonances are vanquished, the music flows ...
(maybe another RX-5000 as a flywheel might work?) If not set up correctly(which can be a pain) it can cause problems.
In my case use the RX-5000 as a flywheel did not work. I mean it “worked” well from mechanical per...
