The socket is invisible and it appears rather a standard Russian ceramic socket. What is unusual is that the tube has a harness that typically used for permitting the tube to work upside down and under dynamic stress. I never seen it before and that is certainly makes is very fascinating. What is interesting would be to guess who the hell used the tube like this? The type of the making depicted on your picture suggest that it is not some kind of boutique hi-fi shop but rather a Russian industrial production from 60s. That would be easy to get that your socket was used in MIG jet fighter (where the tube come from) but on MIG it was no spring loading.    http://www.romythecat.com/GetPost.aspx?PostID=9434    Prom engineering perspective the spring loading would be better and it is possible that your socket is some kind of modification used on Russian MIG. I do not think that this socket is practical on Hi-Fi environment but it would not hurt as well.  If you make the socket like this and make the spring cold-plated then you will be able to sell them to audio people who will swear that this golden socket will be able to convert sound of Boston Symphony Hall into the sound of Vienna Musikverein… "I wish I could score everything for horns." - Richard Wagner. 04-13-2016 Post does not mapped to Knowledge Tree djnagle Posts 4 Joined on 04-12-2016 Post #: 5 Post ID: 22605 Reply to: 22604 Audio sculpture fiogf49gjkf0d My other love and career has been as a metal sculpture so I like to mix the two.  It gives me great pleasure to see cool looking audio while ensuring that it sounds a good as possible to my ear.  Using 4 of these tubes in my next build, I would like to have all four tubes in these tie-downs (whatever they are called)  Going to all this trouble is perplexing to some but a mission to me.  Here is a picture of a Pete Millett Low-Mu preamp I just completed.  Electrical engineer friends of mine ask why I go to all the trouble and all I can say is, "it looks cool."
