Does Reference Recordings go franchise?
fiogf49gjkf0d
There was a Reference Recordings company that did some nice sound and sometimes, unfortunately much less frequently, some good music. The premises behind the Reference Recordings that they were pure PCM recording, uselessly done in 4x with Pacific A/D. I got last night Manfred Honeck with Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra doing Bruckner 4. To my surprise it was 2 and 5 channels SACD with complimentary 2Ch PCM stereo. The SACD was done for RR by Boston’s Soundmirror – a known proponent of DSD and obsessive multi-micing. Hmmm, that is kind of disappointing. What would be next, who also would be granted franchise to sell under RR label?
I did not listen my new Bruckner 4 yet. Still, if it is accept able sound (and I think it will) then how I can reconcile the fact that they are DSD original recordings that there multiple times converted to PCM? How long would be when iTines will be selling their mp3 files with Reference Recordings logo?
