Tape Machines
We know the Tape Albums are less than 100 titles and we can not use this format for music listening but sometimes we prefer to have a Tape Machine in home.
Tape Machine Summury : what make Tape Machines worse :- replacing original parts by non-original parts- repairing or any kind of services by non-trusted non-professional people- working more than 1000 hours studer experts are rare rare rare.  health of Mechanical Parts are more important than electronics in used Tape Machines.most of old tape machine output analog circuits were not very high end for playback, Tim modified Studer C37 for playback. new tape machines like ballfinger are not as good as old Studer in mechanical parts.

Some good Tape Machines for Playback: Stellavox SM8 Nagra IV-S Studer A80 Ampex ATR-102

High Quality Tape Format for Playback in Audio System: 15ips(Speed) 2-track stereo 1/4" 10.5" = 269cm CCIR SM900

If you have stellavox tape machine then you can call Jean Michel for repair/service of your machine. "My name is Jean-Michel Simonet and I have been working with Mr. Gurtner in the Stellavox factory since 1969I was responsible for customer service, final inspection and welcoming customers. I have all the spare parts for Stellavox portable machines in stock, I do the repairs, Offers and sales" This is the mail address : stellavoxjms@gmail.com  Telephone: +41 79 6376733 website:  http://www.audioprojpg.com/
You can also upgrade Stellavox SP8 to SM9 and for more information now you can send an email to Jean Michel Simonet.

The BIGGEST SINGLE ADVANTAGE to tape
...is the head gap in the recording head. This head gap works as a low pass filter because the size of the gap determines the highest frequency that can be recorded. This "brick wall filter" is and was a HUGE benefit to playback simply by getting rid of problems caused by out of band signals and noise.
Quality FM radio also had a filter that kept the 19 khz stereo modulation carrier out of the signal. Even although this often chopped off everything above 16 khz, the playback still could be very spectacular.

Brick wall filter

in NOS tube DACs like Audio Note DAC5 there is no brick wall filter. Some SS DACs like TAD, Bidat and EMM Labs have perfect time domain response, as you know Ed Meitner used an adaptive digital filtering to have good frequency and time domain response. let me know if I am wrong...

I think in this industry we can find good sounding DACs and also good Transport like CEC TL0 but what we hear from digital is 90% related to quality of CD records and limits of CD format. the quality of most CD records are not good. one of the first Audiophiles who criticized CD Quality was Clark Johnsen.

Audio Formats
Actually I have no interest to compare Tape vs CD vs Vinyl, I enjoy listening to music even when I listen to MP3 in my Car. what is interesting to me is Tape machines are beautiful equipments and I enjoy looking at tape machines in my room.
Analog sound from Cassette decks is in our memory , it is nostalgic and Tape playback reminds me those memories.
