Bearing size/model #
Hi Jan - I contacted the bearing manufacturer you linked me to.  Here's their response:Thank you for your email.  Sorry, I do not have the cross reference information for the bearing size your turntable requires.  Please let me know if you can provide either the bearing size or part number.
Do you happen to have the size or model that you got from them.  And yes, I'm aware that I'm proving the theory that no good deed goes unpunished :-)

Size of ceramic ball
Measure the ceramic ball that is in the bearing and order the closest size avaiulable. I believe it was  0.25" but it has been a while since I rebuilt my bearing.

HS80 newbie
Hi all,

I realize this is an old thread and I’m a bit late to the Micro Seiki party, but hoping to get some input.

I’m running a Micro Seiki RX-5000 with the HS-80 flywheel. On startup, the platter turns very slowly and I usually need to give it a gentle push to get it going. Once up to speed, it runs stable.

Is this normal due to the added mass of the HS-80, or could it indicate motor strain / maintenance needed?

Also, is this kind of load safe for the RY5000 motor long term?

Would appreciate input from anyone with experience using this combo—do you also need to “kick start” yours?

Flywheel is available
The flywheel is kind of irrelevant. You added you are losing slightly starting momentum. Pushing platter with hands is fine. The main equation in all of it is the suspension of the table itself. Since it is 5,000 you do not have air suspension and you have regular single boll bearing. Look at this side where I describe how to change oil and how to protect the supporting plate. Again, it has nothing to do with flywheel. Very generally - if you want some kind of rough estimate. If you have a properly lubricated and properly configure suspension for this table then being spinned for full speed you need to be able to remove the belt and the platter should run between 3 and 5 minutes. The sooner it starts, the more burn up your suspension or your lubrication.
