I have one of my newest Micro Seiki RX-5000 sitting in basement for years and doing nothing and I decided to let it go. I was keeping it for year as some kind of back up TT, in case my 8000 got broken or as TT that I would be able to use at...

Hi,
I've just got RX 5000 from my uncle, but don't really know how to remove platter form its frame. I've made handels to put in 2 provided screws on platter but I still can't remove. Does anyone help me this?
Rgds,

Good anoon everyone,I am currently running an RY-5500/RX-5000 trough aramid thread.
Was wondering wht wd be the ideal thread tension for the system.
Wd it be better being tight or loose ? Both cases I get constant
platter speed, my question is m...

I have been looking at that table for some time now. The prices went up in the lastfew years (IIRC Romy rised it by 50% from 9k to 13.5k)...no wonder with the impotency of the current industry to produce anythingreasonable, save at a reasonable price...

Hi Wellington,
Also I'm thinking to make a stainless steel platter for my RX-5000.
As you have good experience with yours could you tell me the exact parameters of the new design (beveled insight edge, thicker deck part). The schematic would b...

Hi Brian,
Thanks for useful infos.
Recently I had possibility to enter in to supplier warehouse to check how the magnet react on different ss materials.
I found some types which attracted the magnet still less than 316L. I'm not an expert in met...

Hi Wellington and fellow Micro-Seiki fans,I will have to agree with your findings about the CU-180 as well. I have tried a stainless steel mat with similar results.I own two RX-5000's and cant't stress enough the rebuilding of the power supply with n...

Hi Measet,The oil I would use is Zoomspout, it works great. I have a platter with a similar profile that Wellington has, my second RX-5000 has a stainless platter made by Micro Seiki with the same dimensions as the original gun metal platter.Just fli...

Hi. First time posting. I had long admired an older friend's RX-5000. He left it to me when he passed last year (RIP, Bill) and I recently got possession and did a lot of cleanup on a table that had been sitting for a couple of decades. He has ow...

Hi. I acquired and spent a lot of time on this guy over the last few months. I've installed a Dynavector 507 MK II tonearm and a Dyhavector XVS-1 cartridge. I read Romy's comments that in his experience with the 8000 the belt doesn't affect the sou...

An audiophile who has the user name "Kipdent" on other forums told me privately that he didn't think that he could hear any difference with the HS-80 using his RX-5000. He did not mention to me any problems getting it to function, however. While it d...

Well, I know these endless discussions about Seiki but after a while we all have to make a decision. Tuning? Better? Better than what? What is "I like it!"?When doing something - serious - it is mandatory to know what a correct tonal reproduction is....

Hi Measet,I tried the HS-80 and it worked best with the bearing lubricated with lower viscosity oil (same as I used in the RX-5000) and kevlar string but once set up (which can be a pain) I could not hear much difference. Belt tension made far more d...

I have to agree with Wellington. To be fair we both use stainless steel platters (heavier than stock) and use CU-180 mats to damp the platter which ensures an almost dead platter, way better than any acrylic, hard rubber and felt mat I have tried. St...

[quote user="Antonio J."]Dear Romy, thanks for your comment. I actually don't want the mat to do "something" for me sonically, but to teach me how far I'm I of my ideal. Knowing your goals and taking for granted that the 8000's platter must be rather...

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]
I do not think that anyone would be able to “teach” and I do not thin that there is nothing to teach about the mats. A good “sounding” platter does not require any “actions” from mat and the hard rubber mats do exactly...

Retrofunk,Interesting observations. With regard to the speed variations with the flywheel, I have to wonder about your motor. I don't recognize particular unit. Do you have the original RY-5500 motor that came with the RX-5000? The RY-5500 has a buil...

Interesting to see your different opinions also regarding the complementary inertia options.
Again, I'm touched in this subject because of HS-80 which no question is sexy but with it unfortunately I didn't have chance to set up the stable speed on m...

Measet,The bearing oil on the RX-5000 should be replaced with a good low viscosity turbine oil, Zoomspark works well. When opening the bearing you will notice there is a steel thrust plate that will have a dimple on it, you can flip around and use th...
