I have unscrewed the external crossover on the back panel and all the other screws including those of the two wooden crossbeams but the back panel does not budge. So I tried taking out the woofer.  I took out all the screws and expected the woofer to slide downward and out but it did not budge. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

You did not say what you want to modify, what you want to accomplish but this is a separate story.    Interesting that the whole notion of TAD drivers modification is kind of point of contention for years. There are not a lot of “expensive” compression drivers made today, TAD is still doing them. So, naturally the companies who want to make contemporary horn-loaded loudspeaker and why do not want to be involved into buying 60 year old junk off eBay they choose to use TAD drivers.  Now, everyone knows how much TAD cost and everyone knows what sonic advantages/disadvantages TADs are associated. So, if a company wants to get $1000 TAD driver, supplement if with $200 horn, sell the loudspeaker $20K per channel and to claim that their product has no TAD signature problem then the company claim that they use modified TAD drivers. It is might be what they do but I have very high suspicion that it is BS and no does anything to TADs. I spoke in past with 2 speakers makers who very much insisted that their speaker’s TAD are altered. I asked them what they were trying to overcome by their modification in the sound of default TAD drivers. Both of them were not able to answer. So, I declared their modification claim a simple marketing BS. If you sensibly modify drivers you always very eager state what you have fixed. I do not want to modify the two drivers. I agree with about all the BS from people selling speakers with TAD drivers. What I want to do is replace the crossover with one of higher grade parts and thereby also eliminating the many jumper connections of the original crossover. So I wanted to get inside the speaker cabinet to try and work out what was going on. I finally managed to do this by removing the bolts to the bass driver and then putting my hand into one of the front ports to the back of the bass driver and pushing out - it had got stuck over time. Interestingly the external crossover is supplemented by what looks like another internal impedance matching circuit. I wonder why they did not build this into the external crossover. I have tried very hard to find on the web a schematic for the crossover for the Pioneer Exclusive 2404 or the older 2402 but could not find anything. The schematic would have been a big help.
