Cellist Daniel Müller-Schott

I have mention Daniel in the Julia Fischer’s thread and posted a clip with him playing the Brahms Double Concerto

http://www.goodsoundclub.com/Forums/ShowPost.aspx?postID=10119

Today I woke up, turned on my Schwartz and heard a very interesting playing. While I was turning my recorder and A/D on I realized that I have missed it and that it was the opening of the Edgar concerto’s last movement. The play was wonderful, and the orchestra sounded even better. The performance sound like it was live broadcast – on Sunday 9AM?

I sat and listened the concerto to the end – it was VERY good and it is shame that I did not record it. I was playing my regular game – guessing who was playing and I had no clue.  I figured that it was no US orchestra most likely and it was all that I was able to say.

The concert was over, the final applauds and the host announced that it was Daniel Müller-Schott playing cello. The orchestra was Berlin Radio Symphony lead by Shao-Chia Lü. It was live-to-tape broadcast from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, Wismar, Germany, August 2008.

OK, I need to buy more of Daniel Müller-Schott.

…and it looks he has some recordings.

I was looking his concerts  layout and it looks as he is mostly in Europe – sucks. He was last year in Baltimore… Well, I hope he show up in Boston another day, perhaps with Celebrity Series….

Anyhow, here is a “new” great cellist in my view.

While out driving this morning doing some morning chores I was listening to the same performance on my car radio.  This was excellent playing and I thought to myself that the fm reception was very good allowing the playing to come through clearly.  Too bad it was not captured from the beginning of the perfomance to be replayed again.  This is where the real beauty of fm recording shines.
