Not a refrigerator but...
Not a refrigerator but a serious output transformer. This is from the new Audio Note (UK) Ultra Amplifier, something here and here.

Cheers!

I think it is typical marketing BS
OK, it is another direct-heated amp with Russian GM-100 driven by a pair of 6N6P. There are many GM-100 amps out there and it certainly a good candidate for high power SET amp.  I never heard of this amp or even never heard about the company, and I have no business comment about it besides noticing that usually the design is very nice. Where however I do feel uncomfortable that they report bandwidth between 9Hz-70.000Hz at 3dB. They use amorphous core transformers that tend to be short for inductivity there is absolutely no way they can get 9Hz. Looking at the dumpling factor claims they made they play with remaping the transformer sections and yes with some very idle setting you can punch the amp to response very high but in this setting the amp will not be listenable full bandwidth. Did they measure 70,000Hz with super idle tube and 9Hz with super loaded tube? If so, then it is very dishonest and in those extreme configurations the amp is hadley usable for full bandwidth sound.

When Marketing (and a Moron) Kills Sound
I went back and read the introduction at NAT's website, and it makes me suspicious, right away. It makes me wonder if there is an engineer who also has a hard time reading about "his design", or if they all work together to sell expensive amplifiers. There is the usual claim for significant improvements over the previous iteration that I suppose pisses off people who already bought NAT amps. But I think it has long been common in audio that some boutique companies basically sell nothing but Betas. But the biggest question for me is, what are the advantages of this amp over other amps with similar or even more power, driving what might be called "high end" speakers. Of course, the ad clains this amp will drive all sorts of speakers, but I remember hearing the very fine ML2s struggling with too much speaker. I also noticed that there is an "option" to switch the amp from 170W to 60W; quite a drop in power. Why would anyone do that? Maybe the engineer brought them a 60W amp and the marketing guys said, "What we need is 200W!" Who knows? Do any of our readers use this amp, or something like it? What's it like?

Does not make sense to me.
I think it is a perfectly legitimate amp. The claim of bandwidth is obviously a marketing BS. Also, I am a bit skeptical of if a pair of 6N6P might deliver significant current to drive GM100 in negative side curve and deal with plate current. They have a second mode what the amp gives 60 watts and I think it is what it truly can do in A1 but I do not want to look into it deeper. The key to all of it would be why the hell we ever need power amp to drive speakers’ full range? With any non-electrostatic speakers, we need 10-20W to drive HF and we do need a lot of power to drive the woofers. This is what DSET architecture is all about. My wondering about a powerful set would be to have >100W amps that will be optimized for LF only with huge size full of induction transformer and high current gap. THAT is what I would like to hear. A powerful SET with objectives to deliver over 100W full range is severely compromised at the level of requirements. If you look online and see the user or demo of the amp then you will see ported speakers with 10-12 inch woofers and very proud owners. I think from a playback architecture point of view it is not reasonable.
