The 2025 was revolutionary....
I would hardly believe it would be understood if I even began to explain what is going on with me and audio during the last couple months. All I can say: to my huge surprise I found a VERY interesting way to use audio in context of other superbly interesting events that are taking place now I my life. This is completely different version of audio. I made a few attempts to record a video on the subject, but I did not post it. I am not sure if there is an interest in the subject out there as it is a very fundamental departure from high-end audio as it exists. I am still thinking if I need to share it…

What Better Place as an Audio Diary?
Romy, you are The Cat, but I am certainly curious, myself. While I can't and won't try to speak for others, I will observe that it is simply sharing thoughts that has resulted in this site (that you so generously maintain). There are plenty of other places for people to look for component recommendations, but none I am aware of that so staunchly expresses the personal/subjective sense of audio.

Best regards,
Paul S

It may be personal
but it was always rather influential and has it's followers adopting the solutions who may feel (and were in the past) rather blindsided by sudden changes in directions and "betrayal" of so called axioms. I always found it rather amusing. I wouldn't be surprised if the new direction was rather unassuming or even mainstream i.e nothing exotic. Tannoy period was one of those moments . Yamaha B2 was another one (prices went up considerably even though my local tech trashes it as inadequate and altogether a poor design) Anyway, everytime Romy de Kat changes direction the red alert " to buy" exotic leftovers goes off Smile

The Deaf Following the Blind
Perhaps I was lucky to have burned out on vintage horns long before I found this site, although I did do a second round of SETs before I went on my own tangent. I refer copy cats back to "quasi-complimentary" amps and leave it at that. Warning: ALL vintage stuff is its own rabbit warren. Regardless of what Romy says, or what people think Romy is saying, people will have to listen for themselves and make personal decisions, including compromises. Anyone who brings home a component, plugs it in and loves the result may well find the initial delight fades over time. Anyone who doesn't understand this has not been at it for very long. I would lke to hear Romy's thoughts on his current "audio experience". I will serve as my own buffer.

You guys have it easy
Your dancing days are long forgotten past (if there ever were any) and your "rebel period' may be akin to Glen Gould's eccentricity of plunking  the piano keys. Your audio pursuit is like "The Sorrows of Young Werther" in intensity of imagination but misery of  real flesh & blood carnal pleasuresSmile I don't believe any of your solutions can do "primitive" good enough or anywhere near good enough. On the other hand a mainstream is usually too neutered to do anything good enough.

Properly Aged La Tache
Wojtek, not sure what you mean by "primitive", but at present I suppose any efforts I make with hi-fi relate to what I am getting from the recorded Music I listen to, and (obviously) my system reflects my own aesthetics at any given time, and my results are personal, coming and going. The way I see it, hi-fi involves choices and compromises, and I plan and implement accordingly, sarcasm and wistfulness notwithstanding. For whatever it's worth, it's not like I'm broken on the wheel of hi-fi, and I do not envy or resent others' hi-fi choices or solutions. Goethe came and went, himself. Whatever convinces or moves one, dance on. If it's "primitive" you're after, why not go for it?

Lets say savage quality ;)
which should be equally well reproduced in all genres. I'm absolutely convinced that none of the composers wrote their music to the type of audience it is usually getting in form of so called "classical' crowd. Actually it can be universally applied to other arts as well. I don't want it to be reproduced in a form palatable to "those people" If I may be blunt, your system hardly reproduces your own "aesthetics" because as far as you let it be known you bought the speaker project unheard,  an enigma becuase it seemed  big enough, can take enough power and the designer (Troels?) did somewhat decent crossover job that it works more or less acceptable . Isn't that so :?) haha. I say it as a friend, and becuase I'm primitive it might have come out a bit cross so accept my apology. I follow the site because I can somewhat relate to experiences and when Romy sez that "the soup tastes like a window" I precisely know what that taste is even though most of the time I have no clue what he is smoking. I hope one day I find a sort of ghetto blaster which will do it all. Happy New Year!

Start to Finish
Wojtek, I kissed off the idea of reproducing someone else's system with a pile of parts many years ago, and my own process has long included "adapting" the stuff I drag into the house, to get as much of what I actually want as I can. I think I told that I had some idea (based on experience) what the Loudspeakers would do, and I had ideas going in how I would implement them, based on experience. You are right that I was basically lucky to get any semblance of what I wanted to begin with, starting from a kit build, but I was not drawing for an inside straight. And I certainly have not always been so lucky with other stuff I've tried. I could open a store selling the stuff that did not work for me. On the other hand, playing with all that stuff taught me things I might not have learned without the experience. Like I keep saying, if one doesn't hear it, or one just doesn't care, it doesn't matter. I wish everyone luck and happy listening through 2026.

The fate of composers
Being an active musician, I can say that many times composers did not actually compose for any specific ensemble. They may have been lucky and had someone interested in their work. Even the great Johann Sebastian Bach had his bread and butter cantatas written for his church job and the performers there but the Orchestra suites or Brandenburg Concertos were "in his head".
