Maybe lining the horn interior with rough cork or something would achieve the same function like this horn...

Ask the makers if that horn? Maybe they have something to share about it....

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]Interesting. with sealed 280 sq feet and 8 drivers per side along a long wall you very much migh be able to use a singe 6C33C. With proper loading, good trasformer, DSET and these drivers you should be able to get bass that...

This is left channel. Right channel is mirror image.I am using 6db active crossovers all around. The subs are pair of 18" Aurasound 1808 per side. The current midbass is the white color horn you see. It is Funktion One DS15. The issue with this one i...

Romy,You make very, very good points now I am re-evaluating this all-in-one horn concept. I do know one thing that I learned from my current system. Midbass horn that rolls off below 120 hz and integrated with sub is not good. I have struggled with t...

Romy,You provided very good starting points on the driver selection and I am also corresponding with a gentleman that may help me with actual horn design. I have found a couple of drivers that seem to work based on your guidelines. They are pro sound...

Romy,I am in agreement with your observations. I am not certain I will end up using specific crossover slope, like 6db or whatever. It's what I prefer in my current setup. I will try to have make a design that will work with this type of crossover --...

Romy,
I have somewhat different possibilities than you are seeing. My system is physically higher than most because my listening position is at standing height or sitting in a high stool. I have used this litening height for a few years and gr...

Besides hornresp modeling, is there things to think about when starting design and build of midbass channel from scratch? The range I need is 60 to 300 hz. It will be used with 6db/octave crossover. It will be located under my midrange horn -- the mo...

Murat,
I was looking at your midbass horn design and I am wondering, how are you planning to time align that long midbass with the rest of the channels that seem to be time aligned. I mean, currently the midbass is physically 4.3m behind all o...

I wish I had good advice for you. If he gets very quiet (unusually quiet) -- immediately go to check up and see what he's up to. Another question. Do you a have a pool? Can he tip over anything tall and heavy?...

Thank you for your response. I do find myself in a better position to optimize. Last thing is damping inside the chamber. Are there good rules of thumb on this, just like with volume tuning?thank you. Gera...

http://goodsoundclub.com/Forums/ShowPost.aspx?PageIndex=1&postID=6011#6011The back chamber is very important...about half of the drivers energy goes back there so it needs to be strong if you don't want it to reson...

I would like to ask for your thoughts on the importance of back chamber shape and construction. This topic became of interest when I learned that the back chamber of my midrange horn (250hz - 2khz) is noticeably resonating when I put my hand on i...

Romy, just change your speakers:http://www.dc10audio.com/#!gottenburg-odin/cfgI'm joking but are you willing to duplicate your existing system in a new home? Those midbass horns?...

In my life I have mostly seen either visual people or sound people. So my guess is if you try to depict sound visually -- ad or video or commercial, you are catering to visual people -- those are the movies people. But movies people don't care about ...

Nice video. I was disappointed J.Jackson never got back to me after we discussed a custom midbass horn. Maybe he got carried away polishing that walnut ;)...

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]Thanks, guys. They were quite valuable recommendations. I wonder
how would I feel if Thomas what he begin to talk would inform me that I shall

I think it's very important to set some rules that will eliminate many of the above problems. Toys and other kids related items and furniture that clutters up your valuable shared space: 1. At any given moment there should be no more than three toys...

Romy,What worked for me may sound counter intuitive at first, but then everything worked out perfectly.Rotate the direction your speakers are pointing. In other words an example would be to rotate by a lot -- 45 degrees in relation to your room -- ve...

[quote user="decoud"]There is space for a set of automated vertical fabric blinds to be attached underneath the bookcase...it could even run the length of the entire space, including in front of the alcove. You can of course angle vertical blinds arb...

Hello Romy,
This statement generated a question:
>>With a "normal" set you have the output stage that let say loaded with 18x transformer.
What does this mean? Let's say the OT is...

Romy,>> getting rid of active crossover and go line-level shall give you very worthy and very predictable benefit then chasing a murky SET ideas. This is exactly what I plan to try by moving the current active filter to line level (in the amp). ...

This is the amp I chose and just started building! Would it be possible to contact you directly, rowuk? I want to consult about the build and your experience, without flooding this post with specific questions. Or you can contact me.thanks,Gera...

Hello Romy,
Your responce is valuable and I have some questions:
You say:
>>You load SET’s output a bit more and you have “richer” and “slower” sound and if you idle it more then you have “faster” and “punchier” sound...

Considering all "cautions" mentioned by Paul and rawuk regarding SET capriciousness to crossover and speakers I am confident that I will NOT have any problems related to the above cautions of crossovers or speaker loads.
I use an active...

Hello,
I've never had an SET amplifier in my system. Having high efficiency horns (106 db on average down to 100Hz ) I have tried a number of solid state and tube amplifiers, and I am aware of their sound in my system. ...

This is good news. Your system will not be wasted -- just optimized and less narrow minded. I know, my son is 3.5 y and another one due any day. May Thomas he be healthy and sleep well.Gera...
