my question is:
the relation between "music listening experience" and "sound quality".
very good articles are here (GSC) and I have read them.when I wake up early morning and start climbing at 5:30AM the music l...

Romy,
When you say no good sounding Bruckner LPs do you mean no "great" sounding, or that all Bruckner LPs sonics are average or worse?
It would help if you gave an example of late 19th C Romantic music on LP that you did con...

Over the years there have been occasional reviews of low powered SS, but mostly in passing because they undercut (by sounding better) the bigger SS amps whether by the same vendor or others. Yes many years ago I had a low powered semi faux hybrid Jol...

I think people were worried about you personally. I know I was. It never occurred to me that the Cat would suffer the tribulations of hackery. Glad the site is back. All is well....

I found with my unit (older model) that noise was associated with malfunctioning. I just use my local tech repair to repair it and swap batteries. Apparently they have no problem doing repairs on it as problems are fixed by th...

I can certainly understand if you don't want to run the specific experiment I suggested but it is not a question of not knowing other commercial disks. Also the extended period is crucial for the experiment. But I mean pink noise and only pink noise....
|
Would you be willing to run a fairly easy experiment? Put a pink noise track on repeat and play it overnight at low volume ( i assume you are not sleeping in the same room) for a week. Then listen to a CD that you know well at a time of day that is n...

[quote user="Paul S"] As for Brahms, we have discussed here that not all performers or performances make the most of the compositions. And this might apply to any number of composers, that one seldom hears their compositions rendered at their best. B...

Nor was he prone to bad taste or even satire. I have never been a big Brahms fan but his musical propriety has integrity. ...

The subject of vulgarity in art gets confused with bad taste and satire, so I am not sure which exactly you mean. For example Mahler seems to me to have many instances of bad taste and satire but seldom any significant vulgarity. Tchaikovsky not ...

Paul,
20th C classical music wasn't that popular when it was new except in vocal works. The few exceptions either had some rhythmic or melodically memorable aspect. What I mean is that people can accept something more novel and complicated wh...

People are not required to like or dislike anything. I guess the question you raise would require some additional info to answer. Some people have Austro German music as their reference and therefore don't really like styles which are at variance, fo...

Best wishes for Amy,
Unfortunately Bruckner did not write great parts for violas generally.

I got a few from some other company years ago but can't remember who they were. I think they were a German company. Again try them first in the speakers and any higher wattage amp. I have used them for years without any problem of safety nor have I h...

I have these fuses in all my components with fuses. However I would say they have a more noticeable effect in speakers and amplifiers particularly SS amps.As to their safety I have noticed no problems. A notable mastering engineer tested them and fou...

Yes the variability is there but the AC Mains and ground contribute to it as well as the audio system. It's not quite at the level of aftermarket power cords but there are clearly issues with even the double conversion that need to be improved....

No not hum but hmmm. I don't hear anything like sparkle using the PP. It's deader allowing more ambient cues to come through consistently. Of course my hearing is no longer bat like, so maybe the youthful ears of Amir and NSet are able to hear what I...

Amir,
I thought there was speculation upthread that the AC mains could introduce some small amount of noise through the ground circuits? Can you run a dedicated ground where you are? I do notice subtle changes on occasion but much less than wi...

People these days don't do CDs or even digital downloads so annoyance with fiddling with anything has gone far beyond vinyl. I also can't believe that wivss or anyone else really now suddenly want to play vinyl except for the inconvenience. I can und...

Is there a repeatable reason why records in particular annoy her? does that include CDs or just vinyl? Not interested to wade into your domestic dispute but I was just curious about the specificness of it....

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]It is so fanny how my parley into reverb domain changed my entire

you are going to have an issue with the unit you still have eventually. Also I want to alert others and prevent them from sending anything back to the Canada sinkhole. My guess is that almost anything that is likely to go wrong can be fixed fairl...

I have their pre move production units from the Oughts which fortunately they do not support. When I had an issue with one going dead I took it down to my tech support firm and asked if they could figure it out. They fixed it with no problem. Apparen...

I can certainly understand your reluctance to send the unit back for repair. I would not do so myself although since I have the older model they don't even support them in theory anymore. I think you have to...

The reason you get the notices that bother you is because you made previous posts to this thread. Perhaps Romy can indicate if the Email disabling can be limited to a thread or is universal....

Although I would have traded most of the rest of them for Stoky so the overall number would have gone down. At any rate he is the only one I would put in the top 10.
As for the classical music culture, if it is fading in the EU,...

I would put Stokowski with the other 3 in the top 10. I am not sure what the misunderstanding is. As for outdoor concerts obviously climate will affect it but I think to save the industry the classical music season might best re oriented to the late ...

I don't take a very complicated attitude about "High-end" audio. Personally I would like my system to make everything sound as natural as live music though of course that is not fully attainable. But that is just my POV. Others may want dynamically ...
