Hi Romy,Well, this is my (and my dad's) first horn system so we're learning/building one step at a time. Our motivation is simple, to use horns as low as possible. The very first DIY configuration was:TAD ET-703TAD 4002GOTO 505TTTAD 1603 Woo...

Hi Romy,
I've confirmed through Goto's Japanese dealer that a drop between 200-400hz is normal for 505TT, their suggestion was to double up on drivers or buy the more expensive versions... Looking at the measurements the 505TT is good for 400-1800...

[quote user="MINGSU"]I think most of reader get my point of the car examples. The main point is to follow the manufacture recommendation on how to use the driver. Of course, if you want to do something different, that is your choice but don't come ...

Hi Romy,
I have a DIY 8ft tapped horn taking up about 16" x 16" of floor space. From my experience it might be too short to go flat down to 20hz, you can make it "longer" by folding it more than once but it'll most likely end up bigger than 12" x ...

Hi Romy, I ended up using a TAD 1101h 11 inch driver, 97db, 38fs, and is what I believe a stronger cone than the Goto 8 inch. The DIY mid bass horn is a 1/2 space 53hz hyperbolic horn with 5in x 5in square throat. Length is about 8'6", height of mout...

Romy & Dominik,Mingsu is a DEALER... more or less about business and money, did you really expect him to be a horn expert?
From Jeffrey Jackson:
"he has listened to Goto's advice quite a bit.. they have very strong thoughts on how to d...

Hi Romy,You won't get much out of reading their site... for example the 555 clone says:100% original size100% 2" original diaphragmtested against originalresponse 600-7k, 6W7V/1.5A supplyand when you click on "more info", it takes you no where...Rega...

Hello Romy,I didn't use John Hasquin's tapped horn design, I modeled my own in hornresp for my TAD woofer. I knew I would only need it up to ~55Hz so I was happy to have it flat from 23Hz-70Hz. The lowest crossover point for Behringer DCX 2496 is 20H...

Hello Romy,The tapped horns were easy to construct so I made them while I was working on the midbass channel. I can't really comment on how good tapped horns are because I have never heard other 20-35hz capable systems... it does provide amazing SPL'...

Thanks Romy, your comment above cleared some of the questions I had regarding 50/60hz midbass horns.I found some info on the driver after digging through Japanese sites. I don't know if these info will help interpret wither the woofer will be go...

Thanks Johan, I got my SG505's and S150 horns, my throat piece is a lot longer than the one you showed above. Why can't they just sell that little screw... along with lots of other "why can't they"...Anyway, I just reread this thread and I can m...

Hello Romy,I've given back chamber tuning some thoughts and the biggest pain in the a$$ is to create a SIMPLE mechanism to change chamber volume fast while providing tight seals. What do you think about using test plugs from plumbing supplies......

MingSuThanks for all the info, you're definitely providing some long awaited for answers for us english speaking Goto users. I've started a thread about Goto's 8" woofer on this site, perhaps you can go over there and give us some info...http://goods...

So, you use DCX 2496 for deals but not for crossovering and your crossovers are still on analog domain, right? Romy, I do everything in the digital domain so I use DCX 2496 as my crossover as well (but analog SS pro amps). I know you're no big fan of...

Some days ago, I re-installed the Goto CF-1 active crossover (fixed x-frequencies: 220/1000/5000 hz) with the full plethora of my amps....I guess Goto's recommendation is to cross at 220hz then... although 300hz seems to sound better. I haven't ...

Very good, thanks for the images. It would be very interning to learn what the bandwidth of the horns, the bandwidth of the drivers and the specificity of crossovers you eventually chose to use with each channel. It might take for you for a while to ...

Hey Romy,The Goto drivers (505TT, 100-8khz) and horns (S150, 150hz round exponential) finally arrived. I've only had them for a week so I can't say much about them besides they're not a simple drop in replacement of the previous 10" TAD woofer (200hz...

Hey Romy,Goto makes 12" and 15" woofers at 100db. I recently found out they make a small two way system using an 8" woofer. The 8 incher's range is 55hz-8000hz so I'm thinking it might be a good candidate for use with 60Hz horns. Looking at Goto's 12...

1.) What's that formula to calculate the back chamber volume given a throat reactance?
2.) Would it be a bigger back chamber with higher reactance at the throat? or vice versa?

Hello Johan, Great pics, the diaphragm appears really thin, almost like gold leaf for guilding...I have a question about the screw mount that Goto uses. Did you by any chance find some kind of flange (for pipes) that would work as an adaptor? Pe...

I pulled these images from a Japanese 2nd hand store. I understand that Goto used to work at YL so I thought these images might go with Johan's description about the insides.

Thanks Romy, I'm using a TAD 10" mid in a sealed box to produce 200hz-800hz. Although I'm fairly happy with it, I'm hoping a compression driver/horn would give even better results. There aren't a lot of ready made options for 200-800hz so I chose Got...

Well, I just placed an order on the 505TT and S150 horn last week... I came across this site after placing my order and now I'm worried about the mismatch of driver/horn. It seems like I'll have to either change the horn or the back chamber. Romy, is...
