I only heard such a quadrophonic system with a special recording, no idea what the conversion software can do for stereo basis broadening of conventional stereo recordings, but might be worth a try (with the Tannoys as rears).http://www.andreavonsali...

This one looks aesthetically pleasing.http://www.alibaba.com/product-free/115772212/Acoustic_Diffuser_DIFFLEX.html

There are MANY people who would see built-in bass horns as a plus, but 99% of them will toast the Vitavox drivers at day one....

One might think that the BMS coaxial compression drivers might be especially coherent and superior to the dedicated mid-high solution, but I find there is something wrong with them (and I don't belong to those who dislike the character of BMS drivers...

But a TQWT looks better when it looks like a horn, see the Anima for example....
|
As far as I remember the former presentations in the latest version there is less softening by the amps without sacrificing tonal neutrality and the digitally controlled bass section has less problems with the room. Mr. Martion always plays a very br...

I wonder how far one could get to the traditional horn ideal (low-ranging compression driver plus some metal shimmer on top) with a BMS neodymium pure mid driver and a Celestion/Eighteensound/Beyma with aluminium diaphragm.BTW, something with berylli...

I found the Silbatone electronics was somewhere between the neutral sounding electronics Cessaro used and the super-warm electronics at the Anima room. About going away from tractrix: The Anima horn with the little paper cone driver looked more like ...

Looked at the JBL driver again. Seems that the two diaphragms are identical. A funny way to get around the BMS patent....

I think they could could make the sound more pleasant with an overkill of second harmonic distortion. But for people who prefer that kind of sound a relax-horn like Anima would be better anyway. No real solution. Maybe they should try the Radian alum...

Cessaro once again didn't manage to find electronics that compensate the cold TAD sound, so the Silbaton WE demonstration one or two rooms away was quite a contrast. Without being addicted to that kind of sound and without having too much listening e...

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]All that I am looking to play the DSD layer of the SACD disks as the idiots mostly vandalize the CD layers of the SACD disks. I clearly understand that the DSD layer of the SACD disks is the same PCM stream that was multipl...

I haven't heard the Restek, but upsampling could be a true advantage for satellite audio. The jitter problem probably isn't small for a digital signal transmitted over a large distance and the softening of such devices could be an advantage for MPEG ...

A $$$ solution for a bass array that comes into my mind are the sandwich cone drivers from Accuton.Monstrous neodymium magnet, underhung voice coil (for low flux modulation).Very low Fs.Relatively low QMS for use in sealed enclosure with transconduct...

Some find the first generation Playstation (1000er series) great.I tried one with two different power supplies (original and after-market) with totally different sonic results. I think with enough knowledge for tweaking it I would have found a soluti...

There is a thread about unity horns featuring Tom Danley himself on diyaudio.com.http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/195955-unity-horn-budget-drivers-active-x-over.htmlImpossible that his speakers can be good, as he uses BMS drivers ;)...

Meyersound has the patent for a suspension that consists of copper-beryllium plus damping material. Copper-beryllium has a young's modulus comparable to polymers, but a bending-linearity that can't be achieved with plastics. The old Meyersound driver...

BTW,the contemporary preamps are rather music servers with analog emergency operation.http://www.audionec.com/...

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]Let see what he have out there. I think the companies like Spectral, Boulder and Burmester are very much in position to make challenging contemporary preamps. In fact Burmester has been doing something like this for year bu...

Maybe the Yamaha will do better than the S3.http://www.azurahorn.com/Yamaha_on_204.pdf...

[quote user="Paul S"]Funny that people think that phase issues just go away with so-called "FR" drivers, which have their own electrical and mechanical phase problems. Of course it doesn't get any "better" with multi-way, multi-amped mega systems......

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]I do not like the Jews who feel that word genocide was invented for them. In fact most of the Jews do not feel this way but there is huge machinery that makes huge money by selling the Jewish genocide – he need it as a prop...

Strange that in suffering there is still ambition:We Jews are the ones the word genocide was invented for.We Polish are the christ omong the people.I believe that what the Buddhist say is correct: overcoming suffering makes one a better person....

And don't underestimate the Antimode with its parametric filters. There was a discussion with audio professionals about this topic on diyaudio.com.When the filter Q is matching the Q of the room mode one also has a correction in time domain....

Maybe one should't give up the attic-IB idea, the subs could fire downwards.http://www.aespeakers.com/drivers.php?driver_id=8...

Taming strange fullrange drivers is fun, doesn't cost an arm and a leg and there is always room for a second, third, etc. system. E.g. what to do with such a ridiculous unit? http://www.ciare.com/pdf/catalogo/HX135.PDFBack-loading? No problem when th...

This would also be interesting to try for someone who isn't afraid of trannies.http://www.susan-parker.co.uk/zeus-se-amp.htm...

If it has to be a horn for ideological reasons you could try the Schmackshorn for 8-10" bass driver. I haven't heard it myself, but it has strong following in Germany.http://www.google.de/images?q=schmackshorn&hl=de&prmd=ivfd&source=lnms&...
