let me start off by saying that i do NOT listen to either classical music or Jazz ... AT ALL

in fact, i just don't listen to much acoustical music

i mostly listen to industrial and progressive house, and only rarely to progressive metal

you all listen to Classical which is fine ... but i think WHY is an interesting question to ask ?

Acoustical music is obviously very good for evaluating speakers if you can go to a live performance and then compare the sound to your own room ...

but which came first - the chicken or the egg ? do you listen to music for your speakers or do you build your speakers for your music ?

i don't think there can be any right or wrong here but, correct me if i a wrong, it seems that most of you listen to music for speakers ?

i am not saying that Wagner isn't good. i haven't listened to him myself but i respect Nietzsche so if it was good enough for him it must be good. however there seems to be some sort of contempt for everything that has been touched by electronics ?

its the same kind of debate as when somebody says that experience on drugs is not "real"

nothing is "real" ...

i would even go so far as to admit that in terms of "audio information" electronic music is SIMPLER and perhaps LESS INVOLVING on that level. but i believe that it makes up with a greater freedom of exploration possible when you are not limited to sounds physically possible so to speak.

before Romy gets upset that i am trolling again let me just reiterate that i don't want any argument on which music is better. all i am asking instead is - what is it in the musical experience that you consider primary ? and what is secondary ? or do you take a holistic approach and think that no distinction can be made ?

do you think music as an art form has room for things like spoken language ? humor ? or should it all be about tingling the senses with aural cues ?

again i apologize for trolling but i would really like to know what other people think on this Sad
