This music is so lovely, I don't know where to begin.  It is sung here by the Robert Shaw Chorale/RS conducting; Saramae Endich, soprano; Seth McCoy, tenor; Claude Frank and Lillian Kallir, pianists.

I find the themes and the harmonies here to be simply enchanting, with just enough in the way of augmented and diminished minors, etc., to keep things very interesting.  Meanwhile, the singing and the direction are both first rate, so the important lyrical content seems to just grow on you and in you as you are enveloped by the music.

My copy of this is a Time-Life re-issue of the RCA original.  The recording is great, but the transfer is merely OK.  Still, I found myself totally swept away, playing the music as loud as I ever have, and no problems with the sound; quite the contrary, in fact.  I'm definitely looking for the original.
