Yes, it is the purest Shostakovich - full of nervosa, mental itchiness, spontaneous and involuntary repetitions, stuttering. I would certainly do not deny the Shostakovich’s 9th appeal, not to mention the orchestration. I have my favorite performances of the 9th as well, but it is still as a “Symphony” from my view is absolutely ridicules. It more reminds me a score commissioned for circus clowns. I would call it “Nervosa Suites” rather than a “Symphony”…Rerurn to Romy the Cat's Site
