The real question of AI where hi-fi is concerned has long been hiding behind the idea of "fidelity to the original", along with the commodification of that idea, which understandiably drove the takeover of the review/marketing/manufacturing/packaging/distribution/sales/support of the media and the gear involved with hi-fi. How would the present situation change if people simply looked at things differently going in? It is clear from my own semi-interested perspective that the hi-fi business has changed over time, and either there is less money to go around, or there are more people vying for what money there is. If we separate "content" from the means to access it (and I am not sure we can do this...), it appears to me that the content none-the-less "magically adapts to represent the delivery system".
