It once seemed to me that the simpler the better with respect to Sound/Music "reproduction". And despite I now use giant speakers and amps, I have stayed in a +/- safe zone where my current playback sound is a very recogizable evolution of my early attempts with good reel-to-reel tape via a Leak ST20 amp and A7s. I have learned a lot here at GSC, and lately Dr. Bill's words return to me, that for his Auro to work properly the ambient information must be in the recording to begin with. Even with simple stereo it seems inevitable that in addition to "recording issues" we will have plenty of "playback" "distortion", including X/O distortion of some sort with multi-way speakers, and it seems likely this would only be compounded with multi-channel amps, especially - as Anthony has pointed out - in cases of multiple stages. This is not a criticism of results, just a recognition that if there is something to be gained by all this processing then it seems to be "good system sound". Part of my own experience to date is that while own sound is pretty much inevitable, there is always a time when it interferes with my own exploration of Music, as surely as "limitations" have done.
