Thats interesting... When Slatkin was music director and conductor,,The St Louis Symphony was voted No#1,, i dont know how that standing came about..Some politicle shananigons i presume.. Most of the Slatkin recordings were produced for RCA at that time...  i have half a dozen recordindg of Carmina Burana,,,As well as one i did of Slatkin and St Louis Symphony at the summer river festival,,,I think i mentioned here on your forum,,Where the soloist choked on one note and nothing came out..Probably a bug flew down her throat,,Slatkin was amused,,and grinned back at her,,  Yes some times the STL play like a boxer,,and they at times do slug it out..like pusseys.  I think the Vonk recordings were probably done by Berry Hufker He is music director for Webster University,,St Louis..I havent seen him for quite some time,,I,ll have to look him up when i get back to STL.    Maron
