Sure his death has nothing to do with Bach but I have to agree that some Bach’s things have ”quite strange effect on the human mind when consumed excessively”. It associates for me with a novel I read years back in my teens. It was a science-fiction novel, I do not remember by whom and the details of it but the story went like this: an alien craft come to the Earth , an alien being went out of the spacecraft and any human who got contact with them killed itself. The alien had one single bright, light emitting eye and any person who approach the alien had undefeatable aspiration to look in this eye and if the glance once they they did they were not able to stop looking into it. Looking into the alien eye people tuned with seconds to be mentally unbalanced and then killed themselves, so military were looking how to deal with the situation and how to kill the alien who barricaded itself in some kind of deep bunker or something like this.
So, military called for a circus performer. The man was demonstrating in circuses his supernatural sharpshooting skills and he was absolutely blind from birth. He was so acute to differentiate very minute meanings of sound that it well compensated his luck of sight. So, military gave him the tanning in the similar bunker, weapons and sent him to kill the alien. While, the circus sniper was walking to the alien he heard some straggle tuning sounds. The last thing that the sniper heard before he turned his gun against himself was a sequence of super-pleasant but unheard before harmonies. In the end the alien was able to find in human hearing a pattern inflict person via sound in the same way as it was via sight.
