I wonder, who would spend a significant amount on any phonostage that did not offer a coherent, easily-repeatable variety of playback curves?

Hm, I am not sure that I agree with it. The multi-curved phonostages, with really few exceptions are by nature compromises. I would not mind if a reference phonostages would be a single- curve. With all my appreciation of multi-curved phonostages I feel that multi-curving is a pain in ass and I do not doing it. Multi-curving makes since for the people who convert LPs to digital but for routines listening LP practice – I do not miss multi-curving. In fact my reference phonostages has no even impedance adjustment. In my phonostage, as in a good resonant - all efforts are in cooking, not in serving…

I do not get Stereophile and I do not know anything about Vitus MO-P201 phonostage . It might be a good device but knowing that Vitus selected idiot-Framer to promote their products really turns me off from this company.
