I would like to buy new turntable – just to listen to music every evening. Current set up is rather entry by level – Technics 1210 with Grado Gold and Trichord Dino. However it could produce more or less correct time picture, and involve me into the music. I would like to improve the involvement by external means – through replacement or upgrade of existing unit. So far I find out, that clean regenerated power, to be feed to the Technics motor, could significantly improve the misic picture and personal invlovment into it.
Basing on the different articles and understanding of reproduction process I’ve come to conclusinon, that might be the good next candidate is Verdier Nouvelle Platine with SME M2-12. It is affordable for me, but might be to expensive due to other priorities. So the question – is it possible to find out something currently produced (turntable with arm) within approx. $3k range, which would be musically enough, which will help me to educate and unstress myself for a couple of years. Are those acrylic discs and acrylic “suspensions” really so bad for the music, or it might be acceptable at this price level?
There is one more consideration to be taken into picture – I do not want to spend a lot of time during selection/audition process, or for the different upgrades. I would like to buy a more or less complete solution, and rather educate myself in Classical music (and things behind it), than spend life in tweaks.
Any advise is welcome.
