Here is a start, If you want live hosts and quality FM broadcast with a wide varity of program material try CBC Radio, available just about everywhere here in Canada including the North West Territorys.
Most nations radio stations have large budgets to work with and for sure this has an impact on quality.
You can also try public funded stations if any around you.
The bean counters that run those commercial stations you mentioned is at best mindless repetitive radio listening , owned , managed and listened to by clueless idiots.
What helped kill the general popularity of FM listening were pocket size things with ear phones including the lack of vision many once good FM stations had at one time.
