I know that I should come soon or later and it is here already.  I visitor of my site have pointed out that some Philadelphia Symphony among a few others offer a service where public can download the recordings of ‘live’ recordings of the performances, the performances that are not available in CD otherwise. If the taste and skills of the people who mange this process are high enough then the service might be an exceptional opportunity. I do applaud to each orchestra that begins to practice it.

Sure, the qualities of the recording are not there yet. Most of them MP3 but it is the question of bandwidth. Some of orchestras go do 16/44 and it is a minimal acceptable format – I would prefer 20/44. I would also prefer the technicians do not “master” the recording and I would like to have the “raw footage” – with announcements with applauds,  with orchestra waiting conductor… with the whole atmosphere of the performances. Let hope that soon or later some kind of centralized service will show up and consolidate the technical efforts of many orchestras offering high bandwidth and uncompressed files of many “live” performances.

Meanwhile I would like to dedicate this there to listing of the orchestra that after after-concert downloads. If it will be a lot of them then I can put some code together and centralized their offering on one page. Please, you, the visitors from different cities and different countries – check out your local orchestras and if they offer similar serves then, please, post a link in here.
