It is very habitual for the internet audio hoodlums (or for males generally) to report the accomplishments of their “hobbies” without any references to the actual accomplishments. In context of audio it might be applied to habits of posting images of their playbacks or components. Here is what interesting – they post pictures but then very-very seldom talk about the actual Sound  that they were able to get, or what even more rare: they never associate visual presentation of their playbacks with their audio thinking (in context of the given Sonic results).

The Greek Christos Skaloumbakas, was trying to do something about it, milking the system owner’s to express their thinking. It was a good endeavor but pay attention that very-very few of people he interviewed were able to say anything worthy or at least interesting.

The Audio people (users and also designers) generally have no habits to talk about their playback in rational and lucid terms and they definitely very seldom equipped to talk about Sound of their playbacks. Therefore in many cases an experienced audio person is trying to reconstruct the thoughts processes that lead the system owner to his/her to current state. Looking at someone’s system evolution is like browsing around someone’s mind; it is like reading the person’s novel.

A correlation between pictures of a playback with the deciphered intentions of the playback owner/designer might be a fascinating process. Here is where horn-loaded installations, from my perspective, are the most interesting candidates. There are a few factors why horns pictures is more interesting to look at, and the fact that horns are big and it’ hard to hide anything is not the last factor. Also, with all my dislike of DIY people I have to admit that it is more interesting to look at the pictures or the DIYer playbacks, as the off-the-shelf playbacks too frequently are juts a cookie-cutter replica of what was just comfortable to sell for a dealer or  a reviewer at that time and at that region.

So, for me horns make the most “expressive” audio pictures and provide the most information. Still, there is a lot in those horn pictures that is “behind the screen” and no one talks about it or trying to. You might remember there was a hugely annoying cretin posting at my site: “angeloitacare”, he is not around anymore, as I suggested him to look at the world and never return. So, that guy pulled all from over internet the horn pictures and piled them in one “horn porno” sequence. You might view the sequence at:

Surely, he being an idiot has no brain to comment on the depicted systems. In some very seldom cases he does make comments… stealing OTHERS people worlds about OTHER playbacks. That guy is purely diagnosable….

Anyhow, I very welcome people post pictures with their playback online, and what I always look is their thoughts about WHAT, WHY, HOW THEY DO WHOEVER THEY DO.

PS: that angeloitacare-potz popped up in this thread again but, sorry, guys, I’m not wiling to tolerate that idiot anymore within my site.

"Horn Porno" it is, and you know there will be guys with hairy palms going blind looking at it.

I did not dig to see if there is any there there, because I did not want to spoil my immediate impression that this is like something from H. Bosch.

Thank God I'm not horny!

Best,
Paul S

Actually I do not see any reasons for a horn-civilized person with understating of the subject to go “hairy palms”. If anything, this collection of photographs indicted only the fact of troubles that people have with horn installations. Very sad.

I too would like to watch and read about some audio results, especially from those who post here now and then.
Here, the horns are back and I like the situation right now, but would not like to write more at this time.

I know at least some of you have digital cameras and (audio) objectives!
