Romy, I think you were not here yet when several "serious" companies were trying something along the lines that you suggest. There were always "sound vs. measurement" discussions and approaches, but people really were trying to make Music available to the masses, back in The Day. Eico, Heathkit, HH Scott, Dynakit, even Radio Shack, then AR and KLH; many more companes. They actually had some not-terrible speakers for limited-demand applications. I mentioned my first SS amp in the It Thread, a Sony TA-1130, integrated, with built-in phono and tone controls, pretty much your laundry list. Now that it's long gone I can say it was not terrible - at all. One thing that kept engineers and manufacturers jumping through hoops was constantly changing musical formats, from AM radio and 78s, to FM, LPs, and 1/4" tape, then stereo and several tape formats, on and on. All these changes made it hard for anyone to get too comfortable. Most people accepted high distortion at "high volume levels", and those who did not turned to Klipsch, JBL/Altec, etc., who had their own patent solutions, based mostly on PA work, including "klangfilm"/theater sound, and the recording industry, and these saw constant changes through the years, as well.

I like the ideas you propose. I would like to hear first ideas about a simple speaker system that will be sufficient for deep listening to Big Music. I think if we can solve that we can reverse engineer from there.

I saw a reference in old notes that indicates I actually bought/used a little earlier Sony TA-1120A. Same features, as far as I know. Finally replaced it with Music Reference RM-9, about 1988. Happy with the Sony "all-in-one" for many years.

Romy, I think this video (part 2) is the best idea you ever introduced in your website since 2000.I had a conversation in past about this subject in GSC and my experience shows all of our audio ideas may change if we listen to an audio system in DPOLS with perfect AC quality.
I think when speaker position is in DPOLS and when AC power quality is perfect then all things change so we will hear the sound from a completely new window.

We laugh when we share the idea of the silly audiophile with just a dozen "audiophile-quality" recordings to listen to. I think there are any number of ways to wind up in a tactically similar situation. Agreed that the best one hears from ones system is proof that "it can do it". And I love the times with perfect electricity and great "system synergy". On the other hand, as I have shared here many times, I found myself in a situation where only my best-recorded LPs were worth listening to, on the best electricity days. Very lately the electricity has been the worst I've had for a couple of years. Thanks to some steps I took years ago, I can still enjoy listening to Music with less-than-good electricity (most of the time...), and I no longer need perfect recordings to enjoy listening to the "decoded Music". Romy alludes to the apparent fact that DPoLS is elusive, and (apparently) it's not something one can just set once and forget. At least, no one has chimed in and claimed that DPoLs is something they enjoy every time they fire up their system. Also, no one who complains of bad electricity has claimed to have completely and permanently solved this problem. In view of all this, mightn't it be worthwhile to allow some "systemic slack" for less-than-great recordings, electricity, etc, etc, etc? Is this not at least part of what's happening with Remedios or AmpX, which (at least in early stages) do not even try to deliver high Level 1 performance? If we are going to find Solace in Music, it might be that we simply have to make some Level 1 (-ish) concessions until we solve the day-to-day problems. Back to recordings, I admit that I have no idea how to make every problematic recording "sound better", apart from putting the Music ahead of "Level 1 Perfection". By this I clearly do not mean to eschew Level 1 performance (look at my own system...), rather try to allow for typical or usual problems while reaching for "more".

When you change your playback and get better sound it is like buying a better car. You feel better inside new car and also you feel better when you push the pedal or turn faster in corners. All things are better in new car but I think the depth of our positive feeling is limited and after awhile the new car is not very exciting like first days. If we need deeper enjoyment then we can not find it in buying better car, we need to find another way. I think dpols and perfect ac power quality is not like buying better car, it is like using Cocaine or any other drugs.
some audiophiles try to have absolute sound, Peter likes Natural Sound, Romy likes the sound with higher level of musical expressiveness , What I think is the most important thing is not better sound , it is about better (drug like effect on brain) reaction to music.Dpols and perfect ac quality hugely affect on our reaction to music.
