Here is a VERY interesting direction that I did not see before. A German company Voxativ has own driver with two magnetic system: permeant niobium and electromagnet. It is unfortunate that Voxativ in the business of full-range drivers but pretend that they are not: the possibility is very interesting. I think the person who desired and voiced that Voxativ AC-XHB needs to be very much interviewed. It would all depend on who is interviewer and who that designer is. If the designer would not have the undefendable objective to promote own drive but will be able to talk about his abstract concept and if the interviewer was able to ask right questions ten it might be very interesting to hear.

She is the designer but what she say here is not interesting

As you have said, Romy, these drivers aren't playing your (or my) idea of Bruckner, at least not as stand-alone FR speakers. Listening to their demo/proof music, I think Bruckner was probably not a big consideration for them. They are basically claiming to be "the best yellow driver", and in that world, guided by the demands that feed that stream, they might be in the running. That none of these folks will concede that their (nominally) 8" drivers won't do LF seems laughable to me, but they keep straight faces as they show off what their drivers can do, and the market for the small "FR" drivers/speakers seems healthy by hi-fi standards. How many giagantic piles of large, heavy drivers have I heard at shows and in salons spewing garbage that is really no better than what we have heard from these? This is where our own imaginations come in, to "hear past" the poor, musically bereft demos to discover something we can put to "good use" by making it work for ourselves.

It has nothing to do with Brucker or anything else. This is a pure subject of elementary logic that looks void by typical audio “journalists”. The designer looks and sounds completely reasonable and willing to talk without creating BS stories around herself and declaring that her “secrets” were delegated to her by a dead pharaoh in her astral visions.  The company produces permanent magnet drivers and electromagnetic drivers. Ok, then they produce a combination of permanent magnet drivers and electromagnetic on the same drivers. It is a perfectly fine direction, and I think it is the only company that does it. The only question that should be asked, in my view, is what specific sonic problem she would like to achieve or overcome by introducing a combination of magnets. The only way to handle this question is to provide a critique of the permanent magnets they use and describe what sonic and expressive problem she recognizes, do the same for electromagnet versions, and then, explain how the version with combined magnets in her view deals or rectify the problem and accomplish the sound she envisions. Anything else is just marketing BS and bad journalism. I have seen a few other her interviews and I like her a lot. I would not mind talking to her myself. I do not think we would have a lot in common in terms of multichannel vs “full range” drivers, but the subject of magnets is very interesting.>>

It seems I am mostly interested in stuff I think I ccould put to use to serve my own ends. Fishing a little more, remembered that Voxativ has been around for a while:

I also saw an "RTI" on the Ampeggio FR driver speaker that looks amazingly good. How would it work in a multi-driver system doing from 1k Hz to 8k Hz? I suppose this is outside the Voxativ Desiderata. I also noted their mixed magnet, top-of-the-line driver is 69k USD/pair...
I've heard some nice Sound from these at shows, but not big Music, FR. They do seem to ameliorate some problems common to other yellow drivers, in particular the upper midrange "shout", though I would not from this suppose this benefit derives from the "mixed magnets". It might; I just don't know.
