You know, last September is, there was listening event in my listening room,
which completely transformed my vision about audio. It was as profound as it
was for humankind the evolving from Ernestine’s partials to Niels Bohr quantum mechanics.
Listening audio just stopped to be the same for me since last Saturday when heard
completely different relationship between recording music and listening
perception. I never thought that IT is possible during listening, but since I
got it, it completely revolutionized my vision about audio
Well, it was few days ago, I was lying in my hot tub, nice cigar, and I was listening
to a new performance of Rachmaninoff 3rd. Then I re-listened it again, five
times, and it was such a revelation how to play piano concertos.
It is unquestionably the sensational play of a young Korean pianist Yunchan Lim.
It is unquestioningly a very tasteful play from let’s say honestly, not the
best orchestra in the world. It is unquestionably, a very manipulative
microphone techniques during recording and editing. Still, if to look at the
whole result, at the whole package, then it is that is an ultimate piano
concerto. This is exactly the situation when you stars align, and we should be grateful
that event was committed to a recorded media.
The sad part is that we can always replay this Yunchan’s event,
but unfortunately, I cannot reinstate my last September listening
experiences...
