fiogf49gjkf0d I saw this newly released boxset by Sony of all the recordings made by Gould over a period spanning about a quarter of a century and my first reaction was that Sony was unashamedly milking the proverbial cow... It does however look like the remastering was done with some degree of skill and care, so It may be worth serious consideration even by those who have these recordings already. I came across this brilliantly written survey looking at Gould's work both with respect to the interpretative canon and possibly our suspicions as to his "popular" appeal and why he, in the opinion of the writer, remains an essential part of the literature. It is in French unfortunately but "Google translate" should give one an idea of the salient points made by the writer, if this erudite piece is of any interest.
