They get out of it GM100 30W. Well, if they get 30W out of GM100
then they use it at very low voltage and they drive it in GM70/211/845 mode. This
tube is 1/2A at 2kW, with 1000W plate dissipation you need to be creasy to take
out of it 30W. What those guys did was underpowered the tube and light the filaments
up with the whole 18A of current to make a good internet photography.
No less criticism in my view deserve the "Music
Friendly Concept"

The 10 kg for each component? Really? Anyhow, the most ridicules
of all is "Real Full Range Driver in Horn Loaded Loudspeaker Enclosure"
The stressing of the world "Real" is particularly funny. The truth is
that "Real Full Range Driver" is a oxymoron with Horn Loaded
Loudspeaker Enclosure, it is like saying "very saturated colors accommodated
to a perception of truly blind man"

fiogf49gjkf0d Their own graph shows their "perfect" driver has a 20 dB peak starting at 4.5kH. Can their horn fix this? Their ideas are expressed in an "audio society" way, which usually means poor results that are worshipped for their origins. As ever, it will be the user that does or does not get the best results.

fiogf49gjkf0d It of course is hard to say anything about the midrange without hearing the speaker. LF and HF are surely standard yellow cone.
It is cold in Germany this time of year. A GM100 amp would be an inefficient but beautiful heater in the 20 square meter room that the speakers were designed for............... I wonder about microphonics with those tubes and undamped glass surfaces..........
Full Range is in fact what the speaker does - creates pressure full range (well 40-20Khz anyway). With a QTS of over .6, it seems predestined for open back designs. I wonder how they do that with such a light cone. Extremely weak magnet?

fiogf49gjkf0d Rowuk, drivers like this are typically overhung, with strong magnets. Some, like the Reps, have very narrow "focused" gaps. With a light cone of the smalli-ish diameter of the driver they show, this might be acceptable down to a 5-600 Hz X/O. The way the whizzer is configured, however, it almost guarantees the sort of wild dips and peaks that their own chart depicts, as the driver "interferes with itself". This driver cannot do quality-consistent lower mids without help, let alone LF. Pip-squeak drivers in backhorns... well, we've all heard them, and everyone makes up his own mind on the subject. As for OB, this might work over a limited range if the whizzer were removed. I think any X/O at 5-600 Hz would have to be 6 dB, between VERY similar drivers. The proof is in the results, of course, not in the theories , nor in the history, nor in the list of "features".
Are they asking 322k Euros for the amps? That's enough money to get out of town, if nothing else...

fiogf49gjkf0d Well, I would like to point out that the guys who made the
amp about said absolutely nothing about the amp besides that fact that it uses GM100.
The GM100 needs at least 10W to drive grid and how those 10W made I think would
describe more the sound of the amp then the presence of the monster tube at output,
particularly knowing that with 30W we know that tube severely underpowered.
Anyhow, the selection of "large" and "photogenic
for Morons" GM100 was kind of strange, particularly if they went "over
100 of GM-70s" to make one working. GU80/81 are sub 1000V tubes and they perfectly
give 100W with low output impedance.
Anyhow, I personally do not see any need for powerful tube
SET amps unless you need LF. The MF drivers could be drive by a few watt amps
and power you need only for bass. The Etheraudio folks do not use any "serious"
bass, so their parley into 1000W tubes I find juts an attempt to scream that
they exist rather than some kind of engineering or sonic exploration.
