fiogf49gjkf0d Where to get time for everything?
Amy the Kitten is playing this week with Boston Philharmonic
Rachmaninoff Second Symphony. It might be interesting. The Second Symphony is
"strange" work and you never know what to expect. I will be attuning
juts one out of 3 concerts and not in the best hall (the crappy Sanders Theater
in Cambridge), well, let see how it goes.
Last night we went for Shakespeare Globe's production in Boston
of a stripped-down ‘King Lear'. I am not accidently mention the Shakespeare
play as musical event. Good Shakespearian actors can convert Shakespearian English
into a stunning music. I never thought that it might be possible until I heard in
Stratford-upon-Avon. The Globe's ‘King Lear' was truly wonderful and I had a
lot of fun, however, they did not show off the Royal Shakespeare Company level or reading and although it was a
very good theatrical experience but it was not musical event.
And of course here is the main event of the week – a trip to
NYC for Friday night concert of NY Philharmonic and Alan Gilbert, it will be Bruckner
8. It happens that Bruckner 8 is special work in our life, it very mach might
be memorable this week

fiogf49gjkf0d It was completely unexpected but the NYP's Brukner 8 was spectacular! The sound in the Hall was horrible but the Gilbert reading and the orchestra play were beyond my expectations and very very good all together. The NYP need to rash to a good hall with proper acoustics, re-rehearsal there, getthe chromatic articulation improved and to record their version if the work ASAP. If you are near NY then you will be crazy to miss the opportunity to hear them this week.

fiogf49gjkf0d Wow, two concerts on a row and both are phenomenal. On Friday
NY Philharmonic showed off some very serious Bruckner and last night Boston Philharmonic
delivered an absolute thrill with Rachmaninoff second symphony. The first part
they did Mozart's Sinfonia concertante for Violin and Viola but I was devilishly
tired and know that need to sleep ether during Mozart or during Rachmaninoff. I
chose Mozart and I shamelessly slept during the whole 3 movements. For Rachmaninoff I was "refreshed"
and O, Boy!!! what Rachmaninoff the BPO showed!!! Not that I agree with everything
that Zander did, particularly during the last movement but you seldom hear that
level of play, particularly this work and from a western orchestra. After the concern
Amy was expected I to do my customary bitching and complaining but I told her
that it was probably one of the best plays I heard from her orchestra. I am
sure that she instantly diagnosed me with a brain cancer and has scheduled me
for testing…
