fiogf49gjkf0d The people who have 3 arms on a single turntable know the problem. The tonearm on the right is the best - easy access by hand and easy to see the needle lowering location. The tonearm in the top of TT, the furthers tonearm has a perfect view of the cartridge lowering location but you need to be careful with your hands as if you were a wade sleeve then it might damage the arm on the right. Raise your hand whoever did it. The arm at the bottom of the turntable – the closes has the best access – it right in from of you. But if this arm is long and particularly use the J-shape tube then the cartridge’s needle is invisible and it is very uncomfortable. So, here is what I invented – I installed a magnifying parabolic mirror to see the front of the cartridge – very, very comfortable.

fiogf49gjkf0d I never did like the use of two or three arms on one turntable...I use two turntables,,I find that most convenient,,and less chance of an accident.

For sure three turntables are more convenient sort of speak and for sure less chance of an accident. A day long available chauffeur is more convenient then to drive own car and to have a remote control over weather is more convenient then to have an irrigation system installed. I do have 3 turntables and if all of them performed the same then I would still prefer to have 3 arms instead of turntables. But it is me. With my setup I doubt that I would be able to have 3 turntables, identically, properly setup running in the same phonostage and to have equally-comfortable access to them. To have 3 turntables the entire layout of equipment has to be very differently arranged, in my case it would not be convenient and I do not pursue it.

fiogf49gjkf0d I wanted to compare a LP pressed at 33 1/3 and 45 RPM of the same music..To listen for any pinched effect or inner groove compression & distortion..Two identicle turntables and arms plus switching at phono preamp gave me the tool needed for this type of audition,, also I had the Master Tape and tape recorder as the 3rd sorce all three than could be evaluated... It becomes obvious to how much in processing a LP losses its accurosity as compared to the master,,, Recording DIRECT TO DISC,,eliminates & reduces some of the problems but traceing fidelity is still obvious.....As for as remote control,,, Remember the Russion SOYUSE docs to the Space Station remotely... And the Boeing 747 also flies remotely..on its course..
