I did in past some compilations of good music for my car and for folks over the World with whom we exchanged music.  I have a few hundreds of CDR sent to me from all part of glob. I always understood it as good music and never considered it any kind “reference” material that would combine my artistic demands and audio objectives. A few days a guy – a complete idiot in my assessment, got in holds one of my Car CD and was trying to use it as some kind of audio reference disk. Well, there is a reason why I consider him as an idiot….

This even however formed in me a question: how about to take this task and to create an “Individual Reference Disk”?

Well, I need to say that I do not like the compilation disks unless I am in car. So, what might be in such a Reference Disk?  It might be a collection of different performances that from my point of view portray objectives, capacities and intentions of my interests in audio. The material and the performances might be arranged that would give a snapshot where my interests are.

So, whay I call it an “Individual Reverence Disk™”?  Well, because the key in here is the word “Individual”. I really do not need such a disk but I would like to have this disk from others. The best way to solicit the “Individual Reverence Disks” from other is to make my own and propose to exchange it.

It is what I am doing….

In a past I was trying to explore the “Performances Exchange”

But it had no traction. I wonder if an “Individual Reverence Disk™” would have more interest. If people get interests I might put a service online that would facilitate the exchange of the Individual Reverence Disks and to make the disks not shippable but downloadable….

So, an Individual Reverence Disks might be a collection of 4.7G wave files with a few tracks that a person finds interesting. The sonic and artistic quality is not a mandatory characteristic – what the Individual feels would feet him/her. The only requirement is to have one disk by person in order be able to access an exchange pool.  More “rules of the game” might be defined if the idea gets any interests. I do not have such a “Individual Reverence Disk” but I might work on it if get a hope that I would be able to get the “Individual Reverence Disk” of others.

But why make the files so large?  After all, we are talking about car "audio" here, right?  Not to mention the fact that my "computer capabilities" crap out around You Tube level.

Otherwise, this sounds ike a GREAT idea!  I'd love to hear what the rest of you are listening to, if only to correlate your expressed opinions with some sort of musical bases.

OTOH, I have very little in the way of digital music to offer in return...

I like this idea very much as long as the files are wav which will yield good playback quality on home audio system.  I will begin working on one soon.  I hope the idea gets traction.

I also do not think why the “Disk” shall not be implemented in a very good quality of audio. This is why I proposed it to be a “Data Disk” with individual raw files but not a CD disk. I think to “work” on it makes sense only of some incentives are in place. To me the incentives would be a number of random unknown people who have built the “Individual Reverence Disks” and who are willing to exchange them. If I have “in the deal” the only people that I know then I can get music from them without the service that I propose.
