The fanny part in the comment “if only all orchestras played like this” is in the fact that it is hardly predictable. I was not able to watch the fragment you posted from BBC site (It block the player for not UK visitors) but I have today my own “if only all orchestras played like this” moments.

Thomas Dausgaard visited today Boston. I never heard him or about him.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Dausgaard

He took today BSO on journey over Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 and Rachmaninoff’s Second Symphony. The BSO played and sound the whole seasons like crap, even with Levine. So, I lazily was listening today live broadcast from Tanglewood. The Piano Concerto with Leif Ove Andsnes was OK. I was not a huge fun what Leif Ove Andsnes  did but the way how BSO sounded was so much different from what I heard this season that I called during a break to a local FM guy and warned him that the stage might be set for a VERY interesting Rachmaninoff’s Second.  So it was. With Rachmaninoff’s Second BSO showed off the play that I would hardly expect from this basically second-grade US orchestra. At it was the Rachmaninoff’s Second – a very complicated pieces to make it to sound “loaded” And it was at open air!  Can you imagine the well-played Rachmaninoff’s Second in open air?  Thanks God my recorder was recorded this whole event…. It truly you would never know what you find and what you lose. I do not even ask if only all orchestras played like this but I ask just BSO to play like this a few times per season – that would make me VERY happy man.
