May be with some rare exceptions, why there is such dominance of male conductors?
Is being a conductor as being a primer minister or a president where mostly man find themselves amused?

Max,

A few months ago Amphissa mocked the AA morons with the subject:

Anyhow, generally we spoke about the similar subject when you were in my place. Beside the purely social reasons (breeding children and male-dominating societies) there is something else. Man, genetically being more primitive and further-planted species then females have certain natural restrictions and limitations to get the natural feelings of “unity with supremacy” and therefore they forced to conceive and extrapolate an “artificial really” within thier imagination and creativity. The majority of individuals in artistic word are males. I do not think that females are less capable as conductors for instance but by the Rule of the Large Numbers certainly the best conductors were males. But this was ONLY due to the Rule of the Large Numbers…

Yes, but there are many female musicians in any orchestra, even soloists there aren't a few.
Still, there is something different in conducting.

But may be you are right, if we look at the general percentage of male/female in art, and considering
that the number of known (I'm not talking about the "great") conductors is quite small, then just by simple probability the number of female conductors should be around zero.

With regards,
 Max.

I think we would need another few hundreds years in order our awareness stop to recognize a female as a “pretentious competitor”. Ironically the biggest impact this feeling of the “pretentious contestant” has on females not to the males. Many of female managers that I have seen are excessively proactive and overly dominating. I do not think that they are so become they are too upbeat and dominating but because they feel a subconscious need to prove themselves as an effective female-manager who would be competitive to a virtual demands of mile society. What do you what – we have just a few generations when we liberated (more or less) females form the submissive position …

I do not remember who said it but someone from “the greatest”… he said: “We never know what women would turn into if they were free”. I think we are in process to go there although I personally do not believe that it is a correct direction to go. Nevertheless, somewhere in our “perusing there”, I’m sure, we would face some really “greatest” conductors that would turn out to be females. I think it would be our celebration of who we are or who we become. Still, I think we, as our composite awareness, are still a couple hundreds years away from there….

Granted not al women know how to conduct themselves, yet in busy traffic in Kief I saw a woman ride a streetcar quite well.

Beyond doubt male hormones have a more profound effect on aural & spatial perception than vacuum cleaners.

In shear power of numbers, this wicked world of hunters, sailors, herdsmen and Grand Maîtres de Cuisine.

Mistress would not sound right would it?
