I do not know that they say about “size” and “ways to use it” but in audio “ways to use” unquestionably rules. It is funny how Audio people create cult of abstract “better” audio components of element but completely discard any sensibility to use tho...

This is the subject that keeps bothering me over the years and I have no idea why I never have written about it within my site. The subject of this article will be a completely irrational, located at the boundary of idiocy, behavioral pattern of the ...
{Most systems I've heard fall into one of two categories: good for girl with banjo or good for girl with cello -- ONE cello. Add a subwoof and you get two notes fm the double-bass}
This was very-very correct and very in-de...
… i think there's something to be said for the 'black box with demanded performance'. in fact i used to come at it from that very angle, somehow expecting i could try everything to see if it had the demanded performance. …[/quot...
In fact in today world there is a very interesting phenomena - very low-end audio, literally mass-produced table radio that on can buy for $50 sound hugely more musical for classical repertoire then the mega-dollars playba...

In the thread: “The industry-embraced audio and classical music” Stitch made a post that implied that the industry-sponsored indifferent sound is more attracted to the people who has a lot of money. I do not know how accurate that observation but...
This is unfortunately +/- what I'd expect from torsion field followers.Akimov and Shipov are two Russian "academics" behind the very concept.
Excuse me, can I dumb. I ask: What does Mr. Akimov IMET to audio? Or Mr. Thorns? ...
It is certainly very very important, but how many systems you have listened where you can not be able to recognize the HFs as disconnected part of the sound? I just wanted to ask if you have ever heard a system, where the...

Maybe it's also the very "visual" mind and related vocabulary trying to express audio ideas? While there are any number of verbal strategies for describing sound, most hinge on "visuals".Another visual is the new-ish process whereby items (generally ...

It is so funny how the things are turning up. Amy brought her grandma’s piano that was not user for good 40 years. After we set it up and tune we concluded that the piano is not good. We concluded that we do discard the sentimental value and will not...

Goetz, seriously, I thought that a chance of meetig somebody from Gdansk here is zero(or actually I did not think of that at all). Since we are both in Gdansk, or at least sometimes you are, you are very welcome to visit me--I leave in the very cente...

The fact is, typical "stereo" L and R separation is mostly an engineering hodge-podge to begin with, and any further messing with it will be very much settled by ear, whether at line or at speaker level. Yet James Bongiorno set out to "solve" the pr...
My point is not that separation per se must always be maintained but that the character of the music determines the degree of optimum separation or co-location. For example the first violins are grouped together for a reason s...

A few days ago I had a discussion with an audio guy I know when we were trying to name audio things that would be "nice" to be done in audio. For sure the industry fools are trying to convince everyone and themselves that the audio "nirvana" is jus...

The Merriam-Webster defines haunting as lingering in the consciousness and in some cases having a disquieting effect. So, I wonder is anybody experienced any unexplained haunting experiences in audio? I do not mean the "transcendent" events that you...

An audio guy contacted me today with and an interesting note: “can't put a piano in the same room as a hifi”. When I asked why he wrote: “scott's steinway sounding board would 'ring' like crazy. it was my theory about why his tannoys sounded even mud...

When you say it was not very high end...but that you found the sound very good....doesn't that mean you should redefine the term high end?
Also. Why can't the purchase of a $20k speaker in itself not be regarded as audio ambition?
